Zalien

Hello all,

Although I’ve had Zbrush for a while, I’ve mainly just used it for 3D sculpting to be exported and used in other programs. It wasn’t until I recently started poking around this forum and seeing the wonderful work, that I decided to attempt using the program as a whole image creator. Enclosed is my first endeavor.

I have to admit Zbrush took a little getting used to since it’s really unlike any program out there, but thanks to this forum and all the helpful, inspirational tutorials and scripts the learning process was much easier.

Keep up the great work everybody.

Ken

oh isn`t this the cutest thing
fantastic work
what programs do you use more tha z/brush

Welcome Ken to the Z-Side! Most incredible ZAlien, I especially like the milky white of his eyes and the detail you have put into his skin, first class stuff :+1: :+1: :+1:

I am curious about the work you have been creating with zbrush in other apps as well, any chance of posting some of that?

Note Now I know you you are  I’ve had your website in my favorite folder for a long while now. Thanks for all the fine work in your career!

hey,

Wow, that is amazing. do you use Zbrush for a job or something? that is top quality work, KB, i love it. the texturing is awesome and the skin looks like it’s really wrinkling. the eyes are great, with that cool clouded look. reminds me of ET. Super pic!

Keep posting

jibberish

It’s ET’s cousin BLT!!! cool.

I REALLY like your crocodile (on your website)

Nice work.

Nice work! The skin on the neck and ‘nose’ are especially nice. Really wrinkly and bumpy.

This image (and so many others that I’ve seen) demonstrates that ZBrush is a robust self-sufficient tool. Of course, I can’t wait 'til I can afford the full version so I can combine it with my other tools.

Keep up the good work, Ken.

'Morning Ken B . . .

I can see that ET has done some serious aging since his screen debut several years ago. Heheheh. A very nice image with all the right shading, textures, colors & what ever was needed to complete this very realistic creation.

What procedure did you use to get the skin textures around the eyes, neck, nose & mouth areas??? I’m sure everyone here would love to know some of your great texturing secrets.

Have a good one . . . Mark.

Hi Ken B,

You’ve done a great job modeling this! The face and eyes are great, and the wrinkles are very realistic.

Be sure to post more of your ZBrush images here.

Whoa! Great coloring, great texturing and modeling, and great atmosphere. You’ve done a dynamite job here. Talk about coming out of nowhere…

He DOES look like ET’s wise old grandfather.

Brilliant image

Great textures and modelling…you definitely are getting the max out of the software.

I’ve been trying to stay away from this forum because I need to get some work done. However, I can’t help but peek now and then. So, I come across this thread … and, WHAM … what great technique! Everyone here has been knocking out work and this image is the last straw!

Ummm… don’t tell the wife but I’m going to miss some sleep tonight and catch up on some "Z"s.

Good stuff, Ken. More!

!!! That is a great first endeavor!! I hope to see more of your great works of art!

A great alien–one of the most realistic pictures this gallery has ever seen --extraterrestrial and extraordinary!!!

Brilliant! Please post some of the techniques you used!

sweet dude! :+1:

Thank you all for your kind words. So glad you liked the dude. (He denies any relation to ET)

As for the questions of techniques used to create this; I followed the basic proceedure of creating a form out of a 3D sphere, then freezing it into pixols. Most of the detail work was done with the bump brush with various sizes and zdepth. As I become more familiar with the program, I’ll try and be more specific or record a script, but the process was straightforward. It just took some experimenting.

There’s an example of how I’ve used Zbrush in conjunction with other programs on the main Z website. The character is called “2-bites” As explained, I roughed out the shape in Zbrush, then exported it and cleaned up the mesh in the other 3D app. I’ve done this a few times, but only with geometry, no textures. Perhaps it’s time to experiment some more…

That’s fantastic Ken!

Hi Ken, Welcome to ZBC!
