Z-BOT (Robot WIP)

Wow! This is looking amazing! Can’t wait to see the finished model :o)
Thanks for the script! - Baz

Amazing pictures! I love this. can’t wait to watch the tutorial :grimacing:

Big Mike, you are doing a big work…big compliments
Bye
Leo
P.s.Do you use the MMarker tool to put on the canvas?

Extremely cool, Big Mike. I was wondering if
it was possible to use Z-Brush 2 to make mechanical things. You answered with a hell of an example. Keep up the modeling, I can’t wait to see it finished.

Awsome work Mike. Thanks for the tut too. You tought me a use for focal shift. Before watching your script, I never touched the thing.

Amazing work in your gallery too. Looking forward to the finished bot.

thanks you zb2 for making things like this possible. the leg part is over 500,000 polys, and it flys on my screen like butter. But without that many polys, its a real pain to do detailing like this. :sunglasses:

:small_blue_diamond: note, that if you wanted to animate this bot, you would have to make the additional step af keeping a low res version of the part before sub-dividing to where PM works well. that way, you can go back to the low-res cage, generate a displacement/normal map with all those details, and add it to the low res version for animation.

ADDED

playing around with it, was able to even make a lower res version of the leg. The script made a low res version with 8000 polys. at first I was thinking “that’s still too many for super fast anim”. My mistake, ZBrush thought of my dilema already with the “Reconstruct Subdiv” button, which only activates at the lowest SubD level. I used it a few times, and made is as low as I wanted. and NO DETAIL IS LOST.
:grimacing: so nice, makes me want to cry

nice robot parts, can’t wait for complete robot

This looks cool! Can’t wait to play your scrip, and look forward to an update!

Love it! From watching you script I now “GET” ZBrush. Thanks so much I cant tell you how much this solves my probems.

Thanks again.

SUPER! Klasse! Applaus!

Ok, I’m confused about how that works.

After he inflates the lower portion of the leg how does he go about putting the circle on the top of the leg? I don’t see multi marker hit, and I don’t really know how go pick the script apart to figure out what’s going on with it either. In fact, all I can discern is a large dot appearring on the leg as if by magic.

Thanks

Hi billrobertson42.

I can explain this to you as I had the same problem until I finally figured it out. Just before the “large dot” appears on the leg he hits the Projection Master button (U cant see it on the script). In projection master make sure u have the following selected…

  1. When you hit the Projection Master button make sure you select(check) the following Projection master options. DEFORMATION and NORMALIZED

2.When in Projection master select the SINGLE LAYER BRUSH. Select Alpha BRUSH 48. Select the DragRect Stroke. (Feel free to change these options after youget the hang of it)

  1. Also make sure you are in EDIT > Draw and Zadd is on.

  2. Now drag a circle on the leg(or whatever 3D object you have on the screen). You will see the dot appear and you are then able to “move” “scale” the dot into position. Once you are happy with it just hit Projection Master again and you will see that the dot has made a large BUMP on your 3D object. EASY!

One last thing…you have to make sure you turn your 3D object into a Poly Mesh. You can find the “Make Poly Mesh” button in your TOOL menu. Also it helpsif youhave a large poly count depending on how much detail you are going to add in Projection master. More detail added means you need more polys to deal with it.

Hope this helps you like it helped me.

Cheers.

p.s. Any questions feel free to post or send me a message. Im by no means a expert at Z-Brush and im still learning but I will help if I can.

p.p.s If any of this is wrong feel free to correct me. Im looking at the Z-Brush masters lurking around when I type this.

That does help. Thanks.

he hits the Projection Master button (U cant see it on the script).

How can we see that ?
In the “text” file what is the code to call Projection Master?
Seems not to appear
i can just see “Freeze” is that ?
Idem on seeing the script even slowly, how can we see that projection is called ?

you can’t. I recall Aurick answering a post somewhere on similar thing and saying it doesn’t show up in the zscript.

anyone making a script that uses pm could add a comment right before and right after tho stating …about to go into pm …left pm or whatever tho so people would know what is happening.

Like this robot more so that its done purly in zbrush. Iv always wondered how you make the tubes as a seperate object yet they fit perfect into place can somone explain how this is done, this also applies to other parts how they scale up and fit so well, it almost seems imposible without 4 port views.
