Superb tutorial !
Thanks for this, .
It will help me alot.

Great tut and Result! One question if you don’t mind… What are the ‘construction rules’ regarding the specular map? Or do you ‘simply’ follow your artistic instinct and make things shiny which should be shiny? Like lips and certain parts of the skin…
Cheers

wwwoooooowwwww. this is a very nice tut! i think i’ll gather this baby into a .pdf if you don’t mind. just in case you ever take it down from your site, i’d like to have it in my tutorial files.

Lemo, for the specular map, as you say, I follow my basin instinct
The rules I know for that are: lips, around the eyes, base of the neck are more shining. So, my character is a ‘little fatty’, that’s why I enlarged the phenomenon. (Argggg, my englis is so bad  )

industipop > No problem, keep it like you want  I do this for that.

Thanks! I am justy getting into the multi pass rendering and try to get each path effect where it belongs. You have a lot more control, but a lot more chances to fail to. sigh…

Nothing wrong with your english!

Five stars, damn it!

Hi

as i said before great work .
i saw in your tutorial that you mixed the diffuse map with the bump map
so i have two question concerning this tutorial . if you dont care
my qusutions is :
how did you do this little wrinkle in the face ? (did you paint them ? or you
change the displacment with the level in photoshop ?)

and how did you make the mixed with those two layers with another backround ? :o

p.s

i working on model with texture for almost 3 weeks and i was
realy confuse why the texture not good as i saw all over and i preety
sure that this mixing in my model will help a lot to give more realizem and details .

your response will be appriciate .

best regards :+1:

Smeagol, the bump and the diffuse maps are mixed to ‘simulate’ a cavity map.
The wrinkle is painted in zbrush, to add color and bump in the same time, then the wrinkle color is modified in photoshop with zapplink.
Bump and diffuse layer are mixed with a photoshop overlay fusion layer.
Good luck with your model

thanks a lot for your response .

this tutorial is absoultely good and i learn from it a lot .

keep rock
