Nice i like the character. should be a mobile game character.

Thanks Evan. I think it will work well as a mobile game character.

Here is a another little robot I finished recently:

Cool works)):+1:

Hey! this thread is brillant! love this last works, i really like hand made feeling.
Keep it up man!

cool work man, that panda armor render is ****in awesome!! how did you get such realism? it looks like a picture of a 3d print!

@Faircat: Thanks :smiley:
@julien3d: Thanks, I’m really pleased you like the style
@Knives3d: Thanks, I’m glad you like the Panda Armour :D. The rendering is done in Max with mental ray and a similar setup to what is used in this thread: http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?83524-Make-it-look-real-(With-mental-ray)
The Panda is designed to be 3d printed so hopefully is will come out looking that good once the printing is complete.

Here is my workflow after modelling and polypainting is complete:

  1. Decimate the hires down to under 100 K polys. Make sure to check the “decimate with polypaint” button under Preferences>decimation.
  2. Since this model is going to be 3d printed at this stage I export it at the correct real world scale as a VRML file, with the polypaint as the vertex colors.
  3. Import the VRML file into Max
  4. Setup lights. I use one photometric light with a white sphere for light bounces.
  5. Assign a material to the model that uses the vertex colors as color map.
  6. Render out scene and depth.
  7. Use Lens blur in photoshop with depth to get depth of field effect.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I rebuilt this little guy recently. He was the main character in a short film I did a few years back.

All rendering and modelling done in Zbrush with a little compositing in PS.

It been a while. Here’s some new stuff I’ve done over the last few months:

Trying out a new renderer (IRay in 3ds Max) for my Zbrush models. I like the results.

Little flying painter robot. Zbrush for modelling, Octane for the render.

A pendant I sculpted in zbrush. This is it 3d printed in metal. The amount of detail on a metal piece this size is awesome.

It’s all so cute and funny. Keep posting :+1:

Thanks to everyone enjoying this thread. Here are two more characters I completed recently:

Thanks sorovince, the image is rendered in Octane using the materials that come with the software.
