Turntable

There you go one turntable…

Wayne…

Haha, nice! Well if it is like that then I can see why you haven’t really touched the ears yet. In the turntable it seams that his cheekbones are a bit flat (?) it is most apparent when he’s 3/4. Maybe raise them a bit closer to his eyes? Or is that just the way I sculpt

I really like the eyebrows you did, feels very hairy

Curious to see how it continues.

M

(just checked your website, cool stuff! Escape artist, huh. Well who would have thought  Nice career change, seems like you made the transition without any trouble)

I’ve ben tryignt o get away from my usual ‘look’ on heads of high cheekbones of late. I thought I’d got for a look more ike my brothers, although your right that theres still a few tweaks left yet to do.

Yeah it was a bit of a severe career change, although far from a easy transition…lol I could tell you stories…lol. My site is sort of ‘organic’ in that it changes as I get bored with the layout, speaking of which I feel a layout change coming at some point before much longer.

thanks for the explanation about the ears- very logical- i feel a bit foolish about mentioning them now
very generous of you to change them slightly and not tell me to shut up though
as always- looking forward to your next work or updates
it’s great to see how good someone can be, inspires us all i’m sure
…back to anatomy studies for me lol
cheers

A couple of quick tweaks

Nice selection of heads, nice shader too, any plans for bodies etc…

Thanks buckie, yeah I have a few bodies and concepts that are planned with some of these. Mind you I do find heads rather relaxing (there’s nothing like a good head after all lol…joke :D:D:D)

Seriously though, I do them primarily to relax…its probably one of my more interesting 'libraries for people to look at…my arm , legs and feet galleries would bore the pants off anyone lol. There’s only so many feet one person ca look at before their brain turns to jelly. :stuck_out_tongue:

I put these libraries together partly as a short cut if time is against me on a job and secondly for times whe the insperation runs dry. If ‘nothing comes’ I find it easier to take an existing library piece and model from that …

But its getting about time for some bodies I feel…

Wayne…

I see your point there, foot gallery does sound like a fetish site (not that I’d know though :p)…

I like the idea of a head library too, might pinch that one…

It does open up a whole new world of insperation though lol. I find its helpful in so many ways to have libraries of stuff on so many levels…even if 90% are never used it helps keep you sharp. Plus the more of anything you do, the faster you get…which is crucial in a production enviroment. No good taking a month on an exquisite model if the deadline is 2 days away I think you’ll agree.

Wayne…

Thanks for the great turntables.I agree also on enjoying headplay, offers alot more than any other modeling for me.:+1:

Yep, I agree with you about practice! Fortunatly, I’m under no dead line except my own impatients with myself. There are so… many extraordinary artist on this forum, yourself included, that its rather intimidating! None the less, I’ll just keep plowing away until I can at least try to approach all of this forum’s skills.
Anyway thanks for sharing!

Totally agree, you seem to have a good game plan sorted, I’d love 2 days to create something but I have a 14 month old daughter telling me Noddy is more important at the moment…

Once I have a decent version of ZB3 running I may get involved in this speed modelling lark…

@Hyper1 don’t be put off by the work here, be inspired, time & patience will see you come up through the ranks… :sunglasses:

Our son has just hit the ‘terrible twos’ with a vengance so I can relate lol. I can’t remmeber the last time I spent a long multi session on anything, needs must as the devil drives. You still running a mac? If so I hope you mac guys get some good news soon.

As Buckie says never be afraid to post your work, all of us no matter how long we’ve been in this game had to start somewhere and I know for a certain fact we’ve all felt the same in the early days. (I could show you some of my early works that would truley make your hair curl lol!)

It sounds trite I know, but it is down to practice. Keep studying form, major shapes and proportion. Once you have these to some degree its more about being able to know what effect each tool will do before you do it. Saying that none of us ever stop learning thats what is so good about art in general.

As art is by its very nature an asthetic thing, its open to personal interpretation, so really no one artist is ‘better’ than any other…only different. Its only my 2 cents worth but thats how I see it, hopefully that didn’t sound too much like a sermon.

Wayne…

@DW Yeah reckon I switched to Mac at the wrong time but hey what’s waiting a year or two for an OSX version of ZB3. At least I can learn the bugger, i just can’t throw to many polys around, not that the rugrat allows that anyway…

Terrible twos, can’t wait…

@Hyper1, as DW said & post your work for critique, I never used to bother but found when I did my work improved 100%, you never stop learning. The more opinions you get the more you realise how differently people the same image… :sunglasses:

The only advice I’d give about the terrible twos is this…book your psychiatrist now!!! LOL All of a suden our little angel has turned into satan incarnate lol. I nealry went mac-wards myself lst year, look on the brght side though. Although you may not have zilions of polys to throw about with abandon, it’ll mean you’ll suddenly find a whole new interest in form. (Last year I found myself stuck on an old 800 duron and box modeling for 7 months…actualy the best thing that happened to me.)

By the way I sort of took your advice and now this thread has a body models companion one lol. Link[i]

You have a point for the first time in a long while I’ve started modeling hard surface stuff (currently a Dalek) & when using ZB I’m actually conscious of my topology & poly count…
