Video Lessons In Zbrush (cannedmushrooms style)

That’s great Jason!
Will check it all out this afternoon!

Hey, I got a new question, maybe kinda off-topic though.
Just watching Lesson 15 (at least thats what the header says) showing how to set up image planes, and you seamlessly interrupt the video and go on by creating another set of planes mentioning you did those quickly with a software called Posure or Posture or something.

Now it may be beyond my horizon yet but still: What’s that software? Didn’t find any info on it, and the term is quite overused… A link would be more than sufficient

hello in lesson 2 (?) you included a image plan with a skull embedded in it. I was just curious as to how you made it. Or did I miss something in one of the lessons?

The software was (poser)
Use it to make a side and front view of an average female.

The setup of the “squirkle” (round sphere like device in the center) was not covered.

Changing the image on the planes on the other hand was in lesson 15.

Now if you watch

The basic Geometry video you will probably get how it was placed in the center

Hi Jason, It’s Tom from www.3dtotal.com here. Im having real trouble emailing you or even sending you a pm through these boards, you are a hard man to reach! Could you drop me an email at studiohead(a)3dtotal.com when you get a minute, I would like to have a quick chat with you about your tutorials. Sorry for hijacking your thread!

cheers

Tom

Ya you have found my tree house;)

I sent you a msg via my direct contact email

np about the forum thats what its here for;)

Any clue why I can’t watch any of the vids from houseoftutorials.net? Before I press play, it shows the first frame of the movie, but then says “We were unable to load your video at this time. Please try again later” when I go to play it. I have logged in as a guest. Let me know if you have any input, I dig your vids a lot. Very informative and helpful in hanging this damn learning curve. Thanx

:+1:

hmm so I tried both the vid links here at pixologic and the links back at house of tutorials both seem to be working ok.

Now some nerdy questions

  1. have you ever been able to play them before
  2. what browser are you using
  3. Mac or PC?

Things you should do

  1. Update your flash and your java

  2. retry the video after you install the latest of both.

  3. if you have already installed them both go to any random u-tube video and play it and see what happens

  4. do the same at veoh (pick a random movie and play it)

if 1 works ta-da you needed a new update

if 3 and 4 fail your connection is either to poor to play them or you have one of those overly paranoid firewall things

if all fails also trythis

http://vimeo.com/houseoftutorials

hey Jason, thanks for the tuts.

I too had a problem “downloading” a few of the vids, i sent ya a pm on the veoh site (about the ones).

I got the same problem James had on some videos too, but eventually got them to work (using the veoh player), but the 2 I pm’ed you about will not download to completion (it says its a 51 meg file, but only downloads 30).

Any chance you will be making a video for those who are using the new mac version, and note the difference between what to do when you use something?

i.e. zmapper is no more.

thanks and keep it up!

weird

If you happen to grab the title names I’ll upload them to vimeo rather than veoh.

Yes eventually I’ll make a recap video on the subject. Some of the things I’m shooting at in the dark however. I made a review video with a couple misjudged things just to show the new stuff. I think I should play with it a little further. Doesnt help that ALL OF THE BUTTONS SAY THE SAME FREEKEN THING WHEN YOU HOLD CNTRL OVER THEM!!!

Zmapper can be replaced by normal map generator under the tool pallet, or making a disp map and crop filling the document with the normal mapping material

you mean that stuff?

lol

lol, well I meant if their are any new workflows, guidelines or tips etc.

I guess your shooting in the dark as much as us, since there is no help here.

I heard someone say you can copy over the help from 3.1 on windows over to your mac install, and use that as your help (instead of 2.0), but it doesn’t cover the new 3.12 features. Or guidelines.

Thanks for the heads up, I’m glad you have a mac so you can showcase those features.

Agreed! Every single thing should have it’s individual description when holding control over it. It’s such a perfect way to help out those that are learning ZBrush, and in those menus that don’t specify individual descriptions, it’s such a perfect waste! A lot of them do have their own, and it helps a lot, but why half ass it when that’s a golden opportunity to keep people from asking so many damn questions?

Anyways, I’ll try out your suggestions regarding the tutorials this afternoon. I just visited Veoh, and could play a vid. Here are some nerdy answers:

1- No, never could play them there, but I have watched maybe ten random vids of yours here before.

2- I’m using Safari, but also have Firefox, I’ll give it a whirl.

3- I’m on a Mac, hence my sudden drive to learn more with the native release!

I’ll let you know what the issue is when I figure it out, in case others run into the same problem. Take care and thanx again.

Hello Jason.

I’ve just started to use zbrush and your tutorials are the perfect thing for me. Great amount of detail in the UI, tools, brushes etc. Great stuff!

I’m currently watching

Lesson 2 (Noob level)
Sculpting a Human Skull using Image Planes

Right now and I see that you mention we need to use the lesson files to get that sphere with the planes cut through it. Problem is I can’t access the files. It gives me a Not Found error. Would it be possible for you to reupload the files?

All lessonfiles can be located here

http://www.houseoftutorials.net/lessonfiles/

the one you are talking about is

http://www.houseoftutorials.net/lessonfiles/lesson2_ZbrushC.zip

enjoy

wow thanks! I’ll get cracking with it then

Jason,
I was just messing around with your videos and randomly clicked “Intro to Zspheres”. I seemed to take a long time to load when I suddenly got an Alert from my virus protection software warning me of a malware. I was a little reluctant to see if this was universal to the rest of the vids, but I tried another and there wasn’t another alert. However, I would warn people to have there virus protection turned up to High until this problem is resolved.

Cannedmushroom hi-res DVDs look good, but contents of each are not linked to sales page?

Which one is easiest to use as indexed reference for multiple functions? (Quick key word search-able).

Do any include demo of Alpha Palette + Stencils ?

Do any focus on ZBrush 3.12 alone (Not external-ap demos)?

Thanks for any insights.

Hyper its a video
a video

you cannot catch a virus from a video
heh

My older videos show that allot Bo, the problem with them is they are product based not Topic based.
So I might have used the tool to make something
Where as now I would make a video just covering the one tool (stencils)

Look at the first post in this forum and look for the lizard project I think its lesson 6 or 7

Jason, please,

I’ve seen a sequence about a trick to make very sharp mask without this annoying border but I can’t find it anymore. Shame I didn’t rename each of your sequence.
So your help shoul be appreciated.

I think this is your videos.

That was a serie of Tips and tricks …

Michel

thank you sir, you have given us many video tutorials to us without paying, I dont have word to say thank you sir and thanks to ZBrushCentral .
