As everything it needs a lot of testing, I’m still working on his hair, but as time progress you become more familiar with the tool and start to understand it better, the key is to divide a separate mesh representing the scalp in sections as you fit needed to have more control, the same goes with the beard and eyebrows, and if you are not happy with the result the grooming tools give you, uses curves as guides, doing them inside Zbrush with fibermesh can save you a lot of time, the grooming brushes are fantastic, then you just export them or GoZ them, after that is just playing with parameters and setting up a nice shader, hope it helps!
