Using Materials?

I found and downloaded some excellent looking materials and a light source from jantim and was wondering how to properly use them?
I assumed you went to materials>load materials and the same with the light source, but when I load and render them I get something very dark looking and not like what I was expecting at all?

Sorry for the newbie question, but I’ve got to see/use that rusty metal / fake bronze material on my work.

Thanks!

The material does need to be loaded and applied to the model. The lights also need to be loaded. After that, you do a Best render.

It is possible, though, that the material won’t render the same in ZBrush 3 as in earlier versions due to changes that have been made to the rendering engine. In this case, try making some adjustments to the material itself – espcecially the Diffuse slider and curve.

Thank you for replying again aurick!

That is a shame if the new rendering engine won't apply the same look... the rusted metal and the bronze materials are amazing. I will try adjusting some of the setting and see if that helps? Any idea where I can get hold of some good materials that will properly work in Zbrush 3.1? PS: Just had a quick try of the `eroded yella metal` material and it did work, but this time not quite the look I was expecting? I'm not really happy with the rendered detail and it probably needs some blue light to achieve the look of the pic below? PPS: Has this image been manipulated in Photoshop to give better results ie: the blur?
