I am not sure… but I read somewhere that 3d max wont run under XP IntelMac because of copy protection… So there could be problems running it under XP
heya…
Installing Windows on a MacBook Pro is just like any other PC with Windows.
All applications will work. I actually use ZBrush in Windows until a UB of ZBrush is released. And wow, what a difference a decent graphics card makes.
ZBrush flies on my MacBook Pro (XP) compared to my ‘old’ Powerbook.
Hi there
I got a Macbook Pro not long ago, and after trying to get ZBrush 2.0 to work I startet playing around with version 155b. Untill now it has been working without any “hangups” or anything like that.

FWIW, it seems that there won’t be a universal binary of ZBrush2 until version 2.5 is released.
So here’s to hoping that 2.5 is just around the corner!
Well, that’s some big-ass corner their rounding!
Hi there
I tried to move the ZPlugs from the ZData folder a couple of days ago, and now ZBrush works just fine - it dosen’t hang on startup. Just dont leave/hide ZBrush - it becomes “slow” after that, but still able to save the file. I will try to replace one plugin at a time to find the one or more plugins conflicting.
I think I’m going to explore this next week on my new 17" MacBookPro…
ZBrush 2 will not run on an Intel Mac because of issues with the Rosetta emulator…
Zbrush 2.5 will be Universal Binary, therefore run on all macs…
Yeah, yeah, but the fun is in pushing my knowledge and skill. I have a few things running that aren’t supposed to - properly anyway. And I have the time to play while waiting for 2.5.
(ZBRUSH NEWBIE) You know, I bought zbrush a couple of months ago thinking that v2.5 was coming out at siggraph. I bought an intel based mac when they first came out. now i’m stuck with a copy of zbrush that i can’t even run or play around with on any of my macs.
Would it be worth it to purchase a copy of windows and install it both on my imac and macbook pro just so i can start using zbrush? As much as i want to wait tof 2.5 i just can’t. To be honest with you I don’t really care too much about the upgrade. I just want to run on my mac. I want to start learning how to use it so i can atleast be familiar with it when v2.5 comes out.
You could do that, but you will have to reboot under Windows. You will also need a Windows version of Zbrush ( I believe a reduced fee version exists for this case). I’m exploring the options that Parallels offers in this predicament, but I’m still working through all the funtionality and possible issues. I will report back when I’m done testing though.
