Ultraman Update

Hi guys!

Stubobpot, thanks a lot man! I´m really happy that like it.

Hi Kenny, wow you got it! Thanks a lot too. I tried to give it a retro but updated Ultraman, I´m really happy that you liked the silhouette too.

Thanks a lot guys, there is a lot to do yet, like the platform(if it will have it) and some little buildings… I thinking about a diorama and some other images of his flight.

I hope to have more updates soon.

Cheers. :+1:

Hit me where i live why don’t ya! Seriously nice work.
I might beef up the pecs a touch and somethings going on in the collar bone area but it looks great! All ZBrush? Using BPR?
You MUST post more of this, how about throwing in a Baltan for old times sake?:bulb:small_orange_diamond:D:+1:

nice work bro! any tip for your rendering setting?

Really nice take on Ultraman. I was a huge fan of the Ultramen! Great job!

Hi everyone! I’m really happy that you all liked it! I hope the final image don’t disappoint you guys, but don’t worry, before I say it’s done, I will ask for your opinion. =O)

IsaacSG, hahahahahah you gave me a hell of an idea! The Baltan would be great! I will try to come out with something after I’ve finished this. And about it, I’ve done a basemesh for the body, and Zbrushed that, then Topogun and Max. For the mask I’ve done a base too, but simpler than I got it into Zbrush and modeled the shape of it(roughly) and then Topogun and Max(again) for the right shape. About the collar bone, I will take a look at it, but in this render setup some volumes got a little strange, when I pose it and change things a little, what is wrong maybe get a little less wrong hahaha. But there are small things that I will fix, thanks for comment.

ZawYeMyint, thanks man! I’m glad you liked it!

SolidSnakexxx, dude! You made my day, because I’m a huge fan too and I was afraid of making something that the fans(including myself) wouldn’t like. Thanks!

And guys, about the render, I will post screenshots, but I’m not using BPR, I’m using Max MR with 2 area lights(skyportal) and photographic exposure control. The material I’ve got a base from ArchDesgin Rubber preset, for the body and mask and the eyes and warning light are arch too, but more like a glass with shell and self ilumination. And then color correction and everything else in photoshop.

Thanks again guys, and I will post some updates as soon as I get it. I will try to update it a little more before the 23rd, because I will start an online workshop of Mari that will take 2 months and I will study this hard, so I maybe take a while to post news, but feel free to ask me anything, because if I can’t post news I will post some breakdown.

Cheers. :+1:

thank for the rendering setting. that help me a lot
keep your good works up, bro!

Hi man, I´m glad it helped. Anything else, just let me know dude. :+1:

Hi guys, there is another update before the weekend. This is a test about the little scene and I still thinking about it. Any comment or suggestion would be great and I hope you guys like it. :+1:

Ultraman_Wip_Scene.jpg

Nice update, the diorama is awesome, did you use any fibers for the tree creation? I know putting the HQ in there is probably too ambitious at this point but it’s screaming for one of those cardboard buildings!

I think the pose can be more dynamic, a deeper bend to the knees and slight leaning of the upper torso and especially the head (he almost looks like a Pez dispenser with his head and neck so upright). Love it! Don’t forget to come back to it after your class.:+1:

really nice work on your ultraman, the pose is great and the render turned out fantastic aswell! I like the plastic look of it, would be great as a 3d print!:+1:
Only thing that bothers me If I may are his extreme white eyes, maybe you can change that, on the reference they look metallic greyish! But other than that nice job!
Looking forward seeing more from you!
Cheers,
-KC:)

Hi Isaac! Thanks for the tips! When you say HQ u mean High Quality? I have some buildings hahaha I´m trying to put some there, but it has been quite a challenge haha. By the way, this buildings and the trees are from a scene where I had to build blocks(but small ones) and I think that the studio got it from a 3d library. I don´t know how to use fibers, so I tried these, they are so fine.

And I totally agree with you about the pose, I´m trying to improve it. I have some references that are exactly what you said, but I suck in skin and rig, so I´m losing some time every time I try to change his pose. And I´m trying to find someone to rig my models… but still no success about it. hahahaha.(Really … I really suck at it, every time I try to rig/skin something I almost give up the project). As I got some tests with the buildings and other plataform I will post here.

And I´m really excited about the class hehehe! :+1:

Hi KC-Production! How are you? Thanks for the reply! I totally agree with you as well, I´ve talking to some people and the eyes are so glowish that they are becoming flat. I will improve that. Again, thanks a lot.

Guys I really appreciate all the feedback, it keeps me going in this new modeling world that I´ve been enjoying so much.

Cheers! :+1:

You might want to add something in there to give him a sense of scale. Trees are very arbitrary in conveying scale, but a park bench, a lamp post, something like that would really add a lot.

Hi Phil. How are you?

Man that is an awesome idea! Thanks a lot, as soon as I´ve seen your post I started searching some references.

What you think about it?

Thanks a lot! :+1:

hehehe, HQ meaning Science Patrol Headquarters.

Maybe for working on the pose you can bypass the traditional skinning and rigging and go full-on ZB using transpose master? Unless of course you want a model that’s animation ready.

Ahhh I’ve got it now Isaac, this one u mean?

Hahaha I will try to find more refs and maybe one of the buildings(if I can manage them to look good) I can use this!

And about the pose, yeah that’s what I’ve been trying in my models, to be animation ready and all functional. But I’m trying to improve his pose, I may not get to what We want, but I promise to improve a little. =O)

Thanks again!
Cheers. :+1:

Yup, that’s the one!

I get where your coming from in regards to the workflow. It’s an important process to have under your belt when your in a pipeline kinda situation.

So, that being said, I’m curious to see what kind of Mari/ ZBrush integration we’re going to see from you in the future!

Cheers

Nice job! Looks great!

Isaac, I do want to see it too, the teacher is great, but this student here is a little slow hahahahaa…

I´ve tweaked the skin and the pose a little this weekend, I´ve got more weight to it. Not great, but a little better. :+1:

omnimorphic, thanks a lot! I loved your mirage ninja turtle!

As soon as I got some render updates I will post here guys.

Thanks a lot.

You should add a monster. It would make an epic fight scene! Plus, it looks much better than the reference.

Excellent Ultraman! Very nice work!
