tips on painting in Zbrush

After carefully sidestepping the unexploded bombs lying around this thread, I want to give my opinion about the black background thing again. Here is an example picture to illustrate:

This is an example of painted vs. non-painted.

On the left is a default black Zbrush background. On the right, I first brushed on a layer of white, then more carefully filled in black. It is indeed different from the left.

So in my opinion ( ;)), this is a very valid tip. Use or don’t use… at your own risk.

BTW, Belleski, I think you may mean the Pixolator image with the Golden Idle Tutorial Script.

And this is my conclusion of the posts b4:

Black backgrounds can be ok for many purposes.
A painted background CAN enhance a picture in many ways.

I think i broke it down sufficient for me - i personally am totally new to painting and value information like christos(uh?) provided. Everything is new for me and i am grateful for this forum and the many good tips that i get here.
What i make of these is up to me.

Please keep em coming

this forum is for tips and help and any tip or help is welcomed and christo (efgaristo )thank you

Here’s one of the techniques that I use to create a gradient background. This produces a kind of portrait backdrop look, but by mixing and matching parts of the process you can create any kind of gradient that you need.

On a completely different note, please remember that while ZBrush Central is meant to be an open forum where everyone can voice their ZBrush thoughts, techniques and ideas with freedom, attacks against other members, either overt or disguised, are not permitted.

Please refrain from posting messages that take a thread in an unpleasant direction, or responding to such posts by other members. It will do wonders to help keep ZBrush Central a happy place for everyone!

I have unfortunately had to remove several posts in this thread because they were either a direct attack against another member or in support of such an attack. This was not an action that I took lightly!

Thank you for your understanding. I hope that now the thread can go back to Christos’ stated intent: a friendly discussion of the value of backgrounds and tips on how to create them.

There’s also a gradient maker script by Davey available from the ZScript library. It’s something I use frequently.

Aurick: well said - and thanks for the mini-tut. It’s a lot quicker than what I have tried previously, and gives better results. :+1:
