Very COOL! Any pointers on bringing into Modo for rendering? GoZ or no GoZ? Pointers on the settings? SubD or Pixar SubD? Seen your work for awhile now, love your character stylings!
Fabio: Thanks!
Vir: Ooh, thank you!
Grizzly: Thanks man. I very rarely use GoZ as I’ve had some really bad experiences with it in the past. I just find it to be more reliable to import and export manually…
I use displacement maps with regular SubDs. Here’s a tutorial I wrote on the subject: getting displacements from ZB to modo.
A lighting test on this guy.
Yeah, my neighbor here at work just walked over with the New 3DArtist that has your work in it this month too. Nice! We have had the same experiences with GoZ…even here lately SOMETHING has been changing sizes(metric) on us of our files in the end. We assume it happens in ZBrush maybe even to do with GoZ. Our workflow is 1) MODO for sculpting and size 2) ZBrush if we need for texturing and sculpting 3)BACK to MODO to create a QTVR and BOX SHOT for our vendors 4) Export OBJs for import into Freeform to make a CLAY file for our vendors. We just havent gotten the workflow to work without errors or things coming out wrong. Mostly it seems when we get into ZBrush for the parts we need to do there we have problems.
Thanks for the blog!! Great tutorial!
I obviously forgot to submit my reply some days ago. LOL
Wonderful stuff!! Very good sculpting.
The last few portraits are amazing.
Jake: Thanks! It was fun seeing it in 3D Artist too.
michalis: Thank you
Another lighting setup.
Love the latest study!
Amazing man
i like it
Really awesome stuff. I love the consistency of your lighting, makes the sculpts that much more pleasing to look at.

Thanks man.
More anatomy studies. I’m really trying hard to make the sculpts feel natural, but it’s hard. Any feedback is more than welcome. I got some great feedback from friends on my previous work, and Im trying to constantly keep improving my figures.
I like how natural the breasts on the women look - a lot of people tend to sculpt perfect, overinflated breasts with no weight. I also like how you put a hint of pectorals behind the fatty tissue. Good work.
Well, enough about breasts! The male anatomy study is also pretty good, especiall the stomach and ribcage. The chest and shoulders look a bit stiff, though. Lastly, the hair and beard on that gandalf fellow are awesome, any tips?
I am trying to improve anatomy myself but I notice two things all the time when I take a step back.
Good Luck!
nagulov: Thanks! Im currently working on a hair tutorial
demonfetus: Great tips! I fully agree. Very helpful.
An evening in ZBrush. Rendered in modo.
I keep seeing your fish everywhere! haha I like your take on that guys face in your latest sculpt. something about the upper lip though…it looks a bit fish like. instead of cuts into the cheek it feels like you developed the lips into the cuts, as if the cuts are a part of the anatomy. If that was what you’re going for then rock on! I just figured I’d throw my two cents in there. really nice job though
Matthew: Thanks for the comment, man. Appreciated.
A two hour sculpt of Cthulhu
