The legend of Ram

Hi hells angel !!

Its very good to see your thread here in zbrush central. I like your artwork very much.

About this concept - its great to work on, I am agree with “the subject is so close to heart”. You hv to be very careful about this concept. Anyways, nice updates so far.

If possible, can you show me the base mesh which is imported in zbrush or it is a tatally zbrush work ?

I only have a crit on the composition…the sculpt is perfect.
I think the focal length on the test render is a little too small. I’d up it some, or bring the top of the bow into view. I am not sure if that is what seems off about it to me, but I think that might help. But then again, that’s just me.

can’t wait to see this finished. simply amazing

I agree the composition needs some work. It looks like he is looking at a specific subject, but with that subject not modeled, it looks kind of odd. Rotating him more towards the camera might help in this.

That being said, from my knowledge of anatomy, the sculpt looks both quite accurate and tremendously well done.

nerveink: thankyou:)

Cheshire cat: thankyou!

Deepam: I worked on the base model in maya, reposed it using bones in maya and brought it into zbrush…one reason being that i’m not yet totally good with transpose…and secondly…cos i didnt want everything zbrushed so certain accessories will move straight to the render.

goast: i agree with u on the composition…what bothers me is the bow cutting through the image…will have to figure out how to readjust the angle to fit it in:)…probably the final bg might give me some ideas:)

twitch:i’ll see what i can do about the angle…still havent locked down anything:) thanks!

I’ve added a first pass of all the accessories…bow, sword, hair and arrows are yet untouched…puttin up a zbrush snapshot and a test render…
about the head, i didnt wanna go for all out rage…wanted more controlled anger…in a commanding position…which i’m kinda happy with in the render(not the snapshot) where everythin falls into place…this is one reason i keep bouncing the sculpt off max…would like to know everyones thoughts on this…will be adding some asym on the face at the end…
and is there anyway to adjust the perspective angle in zbrush?..the perspective is still far from what max has to show.

Looking real good. The only thing that looks off is the eyes. Maybe it needs to be… more tigher toward the end of the eye  ?
But the whole body is looking good. The muscles look right on. Most Zbrushers over-do the muscles. How did you create the skin bumps, like around the shoulders? A standard skin pore alapha brush?

i dont know if you know about this. In the draw submenu at the top u can press the perspective button and adjust the focal length that helps a lot with getting a model look right in zbrush testrenders. if your renders dont have the perspective button pressed youll get the boring looking orthographic view.:sunglasses: :+1:

great looking model by the way!!

Really brilliant modeling on the muscles! Can’t wait to see finished character!!!

Hey, this is nice! I like how the muscles aren’t perfectly defined and very organic feeling. There’s a very human quality to them.

I agree with the crit about the eyes.

:+1: :+1:

Very sculpt and posing…waiting to see the completed version of Ram:+1: :+1:

rad: thanks for the heads up…i guess i do need to touch up the squint and tighten the corner…about the pores…well…no…nothing complicated…its just ur standard noise added to the whole mesh on a really low setting.

disco:thanks a lot for that …i did find that quite useful…i was using the perspective view by hitting “p” but didnt know how to change the focal.
Is there a way to lock the focal?..cos everytime i hide a subtool i did notice that the focal point changed…like a relative camera…(hope that made sense)…so is there anyway i can lock or bookmark the camera?

cole, kraken, vinay: thanks a lot guys…i’ll try and get an update soon…almost done with all the sculpting!

Awesome! No crits. 5 stars from me. Looking forward to see where you go with this.

thanks womball!

I’ve finished the sculpt. I’ve kept a couple of things loose as i wanted to work on those only for as much was seem by the camera…and some places I figured it’ll be a lot more render efficient to add a bump map…the dreadlocks dont hold up well up close but I seem to get the randomness i want in the test renders…here are some zbrush screenshots of the entire model:)…onto max for the final image now!

Awesome pose Vivek! I like the details!
Will you go all the way to texturing and lighting him?
Would be nice to see…
Keep posting!

awesome. I like the pose too.

awesome work. so nice anatomy and pose. :+1:

HI Angel,

Your interpretation of ram is maybe good but for face i think he looks too old, too much wrinkles are there, face looks wesern to me… hope you will not mind.

Regards
Vinay

This model is looking great.

The pose and muscle anatomy are beautiful.

Two crits : He has an under-bite and the outer corners of his eyes (including the orbital) need to come forward and down.

Keep it up !

5 stars, i like a lot Sri Rama and your work is exellent.

Thanks all for following the WIP thread. I’ve just finished the illustration and you can find that here.
