I am not far from finished now and look forward to showing you the final image. At the moment I have to complete my dissertation and am also putting together a web site specificaly for this project so a little bit of a juggle. Anyway here is the final spine using 2 materials in Zbrush which i will upload when i upload the final skeleton images. One of thes materials, the lower one, gives you a sketched look, and the top one hopefully looks a little like brown bone. This image is a sample I made for future project ideas. This is all ZBrush as usual, 2 renders, one with bone and one with sketch abd then layered in PS, with top layer erased slightly to reveal sketch layer. Thanks for the comments, especially the ones which agree with my friends in regards to this being mad or crazy as it seems to be an ongoing opinion

Arran J. L.,
Can’t wait to see this one finished, its been great seeing this project unfold. I like that image and the materials you used to give it the spine/tailbone a nice illustrative touch. Very sharp.
Wow this is just an amazing thread! I love that last render!small_orange_diamond

Great work here !
Love the work +++ and really liking the shaders you’ve got there. Can’t wait to see it all finished.
Good luck with your dissertation.

I’d be very interested to know the poly count of this whole skeleton.
jaw drop
…
Oy look my jaw is bigger than that skelly’s! lol …
jaw drop
i never knew i had hands and feet like that… and dont for get the inside of the eye sockets * feels for the bones*
Man plz dont stop its aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawesome
this is another progress image, with the latest finished bits attached. Thanks guys for your comments, its encouraging to have lots of interest. []
ohhhhhhh yeahhhhhh…I can’t wait til it’s all together
awesome…simply awesome
Hi, Arran, I had to finally pop into this thread to say I’m amazed, too. How about doing 7 of them with shields, swords, and spears? 50.
Just wanted to let you know that you are doing some real amazing work!
Thanks for letting the world see you great talent.
Impressive and inspiring. A tutorial would be fantastic. Maybe an sss material for the costal cartilage would be good.
First of all, awesome work so far! Very inspirational to all of us.
I too am interested in the “sketchy” materials you are using. Are they posted anywhere on this site? …did a quick seach but could not find them.
Thanks and keep it up!
Wow…I’ve been watching this thread since the beginning and I’m just continually blown away by the sculpture, surfacing, and textures!
This is going to make top row more than once…my vote’s on each system, since the thoracic organs and the musculature will make a beautiful landscape individually–and wrapped around, enclosed by this skeleton…
Frank Netter watch out!
I can’t recall if I’ve posted on this thread but just in case - GREAT WORK!!!
I would love to see a training DVD based on this for sale. Your knowledge on the use of ZSpheres would be very valuable I’d think.
Two thumbs up, five stars and thanks for sharing the process.
Oh, and I don’t think your insane for this. When your done you will be the Anatomy Guru.
First off, amazing work I’m definately keeping an eye on this project. I do have a question for you though. I noticed that with your zspheres you have multiple ones branching off in the jaw area of the skull. Did you connect those somehow? or do they just end?
I just want you to know i havent given up on this work, it just had a small interuption with the volcano x project http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=55793 and currently all my time is spent completing my dissertation, with one week left on that. Then finally I can get stuck back into this project. Thanks loads for all your comments on here and you interest, and especially your patients in me replying to any questions asked .
andoru: just a quick zb render with no post work
AngelJ: I am excited of some of the ideas i have in mind with this sketch to 3d approach and so i hope it works out. thanks
el-d: thanks for the that about the dissertation. It is on bringing anatomy to the masses, covering dissection in history and up to modern anatomist Dr Gunther Von Hagen, I am actually loving writing it but missing ZB artwork very much.
dustbun1_uk: Currently the poly count is looking to be around 2.5 mil on completion and the 50% layer was filter, paint daubs i think.
50’s KID: oh, you know i am going to do that right!!! going to be hard to resist.
neondistraction: I will make the sketchy material available as soon as I allow myself to switch the PC back on. I have other things to do at the moment and until they are done i am not allowing myself Zbrush, and so just doing writing on the mac.
markkens: I love the work of Frank Netter and use it quite intensively as a source of reference. In regards to each system and the way they will interact with each other when done, well that is a dream i have that i fully intend to carry out to great detail. (oh it excites me as i can see it all in my mind)
Blaine91555: I would love to produce some sort of training DVD, or at least upload some video files for free on the subject of Zspheres. My work load is so intense at the moment that maybe during March/April i will get a chance to do something.
kanooshka: Those Zspheres branch of and end to make the the condyle of the jaw. The idea is that this jaw can be separated from the rest of the skull and have correct anatomical structure when i do so. There is not really a way of re-attahcing Zspheres in that method, as I have enquired.
This is insane!
I had to say something but I’m speechless. Congratulations.
