Wow. The amount of work you did on this is very evident. How long did you work on this? It looks like a page from National Geographic. All of the details are great. The flowers, the arrows, the hat, the tree bark, etc… The modeling on the hands and arms is especially well done, and you captured a great facial expression
'Evening Mike . . .
Boy, that is one exceptional creation!
I’m sure it took many hours of meticulous tweeking, to get that guy where you wanted him, not to mention the research you had to go through to get all the correct information needed to complete the image with authenticity.
I’m always glad to see something from the real world posted once in a while. Thanks a lot & you have a good one . . . Mark.
the colors are wonderful and the vegetation
did you model that guy in z-brush???
I though it was a poser import
I´m impressed
great work
Thanks for your kind comments. i’m a Libran, my birthday is the 13th of the month, so details come easy. As far as research goes, I have been interested in these guys for a long time, so I didn’t need research per se. This took about two and a half weeks, but I work on lots of stuff at the same time, (You’ll see!), so it wasn’t continuous. The background, which took about 3 minutes, actually started the whole thing! Too bad I couldn’t have done a front view so you would have seen the bamboo apparatus, but then Verna would have had to give me a severe warning! Actually, I should add that the make-up, and the belt and armaments are also authentic.
To Dragonlady: Yes, I modelled that guy in ZBrush and I gave up Poser as soon as I got into ZBrush. Poser figures, to me seem like just that - ‘posed figures’…to get emotional content in them, you have to work a hell of a lot harder than just learning to model what you want in the Magic Z!
there should better be a warning like “unique masterpiece inside - think twice before clicking” in the header! in that case i would probably have put that pillow over the keyboard which would have saved my jaw from another hard hit and the QWERTies from jumping out of their sockets
an absolutely wonderful painting, stonecutter! you hopefully open a museum of Z-anthropology one day! cant wait for more wonderful insights into the life of the Cinta Larga!

So amazingly well done—and I think it was tasteful not to have the little Coppertone doggy pulling on his bathing suit–after all his sunblock didn’t work on the top part of his face-
-wait --no that’s another picture—this one is truly one of the finest ones you’ve shown us here…a masterpiece !!!
Stonecutter, that is just marvelous!! Nice work!
hey stoneboat whats up i love this version of it better than the one you showed me the other day… you must of been working on it yesterday… anyways its a great image
ah! poser-like quality figure, stonecutter!
I positively adore the tropical vegetation and sky. it so much reminds me of vodoo
great work. I never would have lived up to it.
Totally blown away by this image, the greens and yellows contrasted by the figure is just delicious.
Such an interesting subject, if it wasn’t illegal thats what I would wear everyday
Astounding.
I concur with every statement before mine.
Yup, what Kathy just said. REALLY cool image!
Wow, that’s a fantastic work
Great modeling, textures and colours

Thank you everybody for your kind comments. I wanted to do a 100% ZBrush image, and I’m glad it got such an enthusiastic reception. This is the most radically different software ever introduced to produce computer graphics, and I think we’ve only barely scratched the surface so far.
To cneofotistos…although I’m sure you meant your comment as a compliment, to me Poser figures are manniquins, and don’t produce any emotional reaction in me…with practise, I think we can model much better figures than Poser is capable of. Who knows what Pixolater is up to…? Maybe high-end animation isn’t that far away?
to you all!!
I’m a little slow in response due to DSL problems, but had to let you know that this picture is amazing! I really enjoyed your Halloween posts and your other images, but this one outshines them by a long shot. The attention to detail and the superb modeling of the figure, weapons, and leaves combined in such a nice setting make this one absolutley wonderful!
Super image!!! Great job!
Way to go Stonecutter!! This is great – so much to like about this image. I keep being drawn back to his face – his headdress, hair, face paint, eyes and expression all blend as they should. It’s obvious this was a lot of work – great job!

Cool image Stonecutter!
Every thing about this image is neat. The sky, the colors, the materials, the guy, his weapons, the vegetation, etc.
Fantastic job.
bump.
While this may not have been the best work to ever be posted on these forums, it is interesting to see how things have changed over time. I’m sure zbrush was not as powerful then as it is now, but if you posted this now you’d get torn to bits whereas then the response was overwhelmingly positive. Just interesting to note.
Oh, and forum necromancy is illegal in these parts, so no more of that.
