The Adaboy lives!!

From Peter Parker to Swamp Thing’s Dr. Alec Holland, an array of 20th Century scientists have unwittingly transformed themselves into super hero and super villain alike- often with unexpected, and undesirable consequences. Their agonies might have been avoided had these men considered more carefully the tribulations of their predecessor- alchemist Abraham Lamark, humanity’s prototypical Man of Science. In myriad ways, both Abraham’s fate and the fate of his family were far more powerful than those of his successors… his story is set to unfold in graphic, sculpted-detail at www.theadaboy.com.

Here are a few pages from the test sequence- others can be found under the Story/Chapter section on the home page. Hope you enjoy it!!

um, wow, I freaking love it!

Tell us your work flow

wow, this is awesome! I want more

Excellent Zb work!!!
Some better solution for lettering, especially the big ones. I mean, these are coming from a 2d traditional comic style. I’m wondering what could be best here. Is it the outline style the problem? I really don’t know. Some colored and-or transparent work better imo.

Awesome work, and great website layout, I love the format.

have to say … WOW… !!

are all the props in the potion room made in ZB?

Zack you are the reason why I’m here. I would like to thank you for the inspiration. Your work fills us with joy, so please keep us in touch with your latest works. Great job man.

Awesome! Been looking forward to this for a long time! The website is great -> love the style & mood -> looking forward to following the updates :sunglasses: :+1:  .

Awesome work Zack :+1: :+1: :+1:

Awesome Zack. Very cool.

Page 006 is amazing, are all of those objects, the tubes and beakers, sculpted?

Thanks for the kind words. Most of the props in the laboratory reveal where done in Maya- but honestly the majority of them are just simple revolves. The stone work on the walls, complete structure, and all the wood elements were created in ZB. For the most part- everything that’s not glass also goes through a ZB pass.

In addition to the inspiration this forum offers, I’ve also found it to be a great place to find technical knowledge that has improved my own artistic process. With that in mind- and for what it’s worth- I wanted to put together a few process and work flow documents/vids to add to the post. More to come as I get a chance to pull things together…

When I began the project, all my renders were done in Maya. With the advent of the new rendering capabilities in ZB I don’t think I’ll be going back to Maya or any other external rendering package anytime soon. I love the fact that you can edit your high poly mesh in real time, then render without even thinking about a displacement or normal map. Here are a few render passes before they were comped in PS.

That’s awesome!

can’t wait to see more.

is that object in the background between his legs supposed to be a tail or a third leg? Cool image btw. :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:
