T.S.Wittelsbach's Jewelry Sketchbook

ziggy - congratulations that great… looks awesome.
Philuxius - thank you

  • SpiritDreamer thank for the kind words
  • SonOfWitz thanks...
  • rodney71 i do all my rough up in modo then goz back and forth... most of the layer play is done in modo the the pen/quad tool. i very rarely have a sketch or real design going in ... i have rough ideas and let the shapes talk to me.... i know i know a little hokey but years of psycotropes you would be amazed what talks to you.
  • I usually keep a high resolution model and a dynamesh so I can alter each respectively to wind up with one good model to decimate. I work with high mesh counts usually start in the 1 - 3 mill and wind up in 5 - 18 mill range. remember in fabrication the detail has to be there no mapping allowed. ;) I am working on building a tutorial set with ryan if i ever get my crap together and figure out what information I could actually share with you guys and gals. we will see .... ;D
  • jmeyer thanks most of that is plotted out in modo then refine the touch and shape in zbrush love those move tools
  • zber2 thank you very much it is appreciated

Awesome work. Love it! :+1:

Beautiful work!

Wow really great work. As a jeweller working with zbrush these are amazing and inspiring to me. I’d love to see some of your workflows, specially those regarding stones. Thanks for sharing

  • Ylog - im working on some tutorials, but for the most part I do my block up in modo ( i have calibrated stone models there) the scale work is done there. then I bring it into zbrush, sculpt it there. then if i render I go to matrix/rhino.
  • if you have any specific questions i would be pleased to help
  • Philuxius - thank you..
  • yvan_c - thank you ;)

Hi

Thanks for replying so fast. Great to know, haven’t heard of modo, started cad by learning rhino, but it wasn’t freeform enough for my taste thats why i learned zbrush…or learning, have been learning for about 10 months. Have a background in wax modelling so zbrush feels more natural to me thats why i only use it at the moment. I wasn’t looking for specific stuff, just zbrush workflows, always interesting to see artists i admire working. But i’ll keep your offer in mind if i ever need some advise, thanks it’s very kind of you. Looking forward to the tutorials though.

Hi Ylog…

Had a Rhino to ZBrush Problem over weekend, resolved by exporting Rhino mesh as a STL and then importing in ZBrush, from here it magic…!

Hope this help your old Rhino habits… all programs have some or other main features, but ZBrush is still the best…!

Regards Ziggy

Hi Ziggy

Nice to know, thanks. I used to do it with OBJ’s and dynamesh. I’ve stoped using other programs than zbrush though, because i like the freedon you get in zb and i want to concentrate my eforts on learning zb.

WOW this is just… amazing ! why haven’t I heard earlier about this ))
just 2 questions , 1) what 3D printer are you using ? (maybe it was somewhere couldn’t find it) the details are just too damn high
and 2) do you take commisions ? (for example I can make a ring or something , send you the 3d file, you would craft it , and ship it back) for a price ofcourse))

P.S. found a website that makes something similar http://www.shapeways.com/gallery/jewelry but… level of details doesn’t look that good

love both, especially the mermaid ring

Hey, wonderful designs. I bought the zbrush magazine where you explain how you created the mermaid ring, but i can’t find the video where it shows how you modelled it in modo. It’s not in the DVD content. Where could i find that?

Your jewelry is very beautiful. Keep it going!

Thanks

amazing detail
some of your shapes remind me of Rene’ Lalique
What type of machines are you using to print or mill the wax
I cant seem to find any printers that print in wax
except for the Roland machine

you know I’m not so sure but i’ll see if Paul has it.

I have never been so good at keeping things in order

blackmath -
thanks a million Lalique is my inspiration from childhood.
I use the solidscape 3zpro
http://www.solid-scape.com/products/3d-printers/solidscape-3z-pro-wax-printer-lost-wax-and-investment-casting
nothing beats its detail but its slow as dirt so its good for prototyping and creating masters but for production its beastly slow.
the other industry standard is the envisiontec machine.

and I want to apologize for my lack of response over the last year I’ve been busy designing a line for William Henry and I cant post those pieces until the line is launched in june.

I will try to be better…

Thanks for the info sir

Thanks a lot for all that info T.S. Wittelsbach!

Applied for the workshop for sure!

Just a quick tip.
Does anyone recommend any wax print / casting service, with a better detail and resolution than shapeways?

Thanks a lot.

I have used techform and casting house
but those are jewelry facilities.

hope that helps
