Thanks for the comments and complements.
Answering to your questions, I started to make the scales drawing the shape using the standard tool , then I fill in with Clay tool and I smash scale by scale withe Flatten tool. I already posted the video so this way you will understand what I said.

Awesome T-Rex. Being cold blooded, I can image it basking in the sun in the morning with that black skin absorbing the heat very well. I think he just needs to be a little more battle-hardened, with scars, maybe some open wounds from fighting other males, missing scales, dirt and grime, etc. You might want to look at the black iguanas of the Galapagos for inspiration.
Awesome work! Dustin, he gets all his detail by doing it a single scale at a time hahahaah. I got a good laugh when I started watching your video. Great work and I give you props on the dedication and time you put into this sculpt.
- but - a t-rex with 3 fingers??? :o
Thanks for the comments. Yes, with three fingers, I counted around 3 of fingers. I will post a reference that i used.

Thank you my brother, for the comments and complements. I’m really happy that you liked my work and vids. I also admire yours. You’re a great professional beyond a great friend. See you around.
I’ve been experimenting with your technique for making scales, and I’ve been able to make the process a little faster. Instead of filling in the scale pattern grid with the clay brush then doing a second pass with the flatten brush, I just used the clay tubes brush with a brush mod setting of 40. It basically combines clay and flatten in one fell swoop. Practically cuts the work in half.
I am very happy that my work is inspiring you, I hope to see your work done soon. Thank you very much! A big hug!!!
