Stuff and Nonsence

found some time for this guy. Started playing with poses before I decide on outfits. Thinking someting like this. or a more casual one with the Bo slung over his shoulder.

You did a great job on the face dude, he’s like the Clint Eastwood of monkeykind!

@ menjah : haha thanks. a Clint Eastwood monkey king would be an awesome idea.

been playing with the pose before I dynamesh him all together and start sculpting. Think I am going to go with this pose.

Love the pose and expresion! Also the shot is great.

You rendered it with…?

really dynamic pose! will you sculpt completely asymmetrical?

Thanks everyone.

@ nebular : Thanks :D. I rendered it in ZBrush with three different light passes and composited it in Photoshop.

@ Fynn : Thanks, Yeah. I started symmetrically but broke it pretty early.

OK… I think this is the last big pose revision. I was chatting with a mate from work about poses and as usual he shed a heap of light on the situation and so I ended up here. It would be cool if he were to be holding something in his hand but I can’t think of anything at the moment so there.

That guy is gonna look awesome! (not that he already does not look awesome, the foundation is really strong!)

Im am not sure about the tail wrap around his bow but I can see why you would want to do it; it is interesting.

Whoa ! Love the pose and the character it 's sooo dynamic ! I prefer him with no beard, he looks more agressive. Great work !

@ Takai : hahaha Thanks, I am going to play with the tail a bit. I hope I finish.

@ Mandrin : Thanks:D, No beard, but I have put some placeholder hair back on him.

Not too much time this week for play but here is a little update.
Placeholder hair, I think I am going to try and do the hair in yeti and render in vray so this is kind of just for the idea. I have played with the tail to make it look a little more functional…but I received a heap feedback about it so I think I might re position the staff and free up the tail as most people seem to think the current angle looks a little strange.

Thanks again for the comments and feedback.

Whoa ! Love the pose and the character

@ andy.chen : haha thanks

Some cloth funkery re positioned the staff and changed the tail. Need to re pose the staff hand to match the new position.

ALSO…I was thinking about adding some sort of magic?

nice work i like pose keep it up

So much life in this!

Love the eyes (seems to be a soul in there-;)).

Oh dang, was talking about ALISSA WIP. The last image where she has ‘pupils’, love em. And ya, everything else you sculpt, good stuff!

This is amazing work. Superb vision and execution.

so much variety…awesome stuff!

Thanks so much everyone.

Still going on my Monkey king but this is a little…side… side project.

Thinking about sculpting up a little alien dude and playing with Blender for rendering.

…but first… I need to decide on a pose. or potential pose. here are som quick ideas…

a. The most Baseball but maybe a little too generic? I would also like to add separate renders of closeups on things like the face…Creaturebox style.

b. I am thinking about a Holographic’ish Baseball and Bat and this shot would show those off real nice…but.

c. The most dynamic. I would like to add a cool wondrous expression like “…wow… I actually hit it” but it shows less of the bat so it might not be that good.

…eithgerway just noodeling I think I will probably go with a plus a few closeups to show details.

I found this image by BRAT_777 (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php/123857-gt-Brat_777-lt) a few years ago and always wanted to put my own spin on it…problem was I never really knew what THAT spin was. Well for better or worse I guess I found a spin.

Let me know if the image is too dark…my posts always seem a bit too dark.

here is the original…

and here is where I took it.

Thanks everyone.

That looks really great! I love these pictures that tell stories.
(Personally, I would still have the schemes indicated organs.
So it is empty for me, only the ribs. )
