Street fighters Akuma wip

Hey cool model so far, can’t wait to see the progress!
I would adjust slightly the proportions: arms a bit shorter, longer legs ang shorter torso.

Looks good so far. I guess the hairline is not finished yet, is it!?
Those ripped parts on his clothes (collars and feet area) could use a little more tweaking aswell.
But I gotta say, torso - top nuch!!
About the face, I’m sure you’ll manage to do a 100% likeness :wink:
And don’t worry about the proportions. They give him that typical Street Fighter Look. I wouldn’t change 'em much, maybe just a bit.

Thanks for the comments, I think i agree with you that the arms are a bit too long right now. Though I am not sure whether I want to make the legs longer since I actually shortened them from a previous version. But I will play around with the length of the torso.

Yea the hairline isnt done yet, so are the ripped parts on his clothes and pants. I would polish them when I do final details.

I am not sure about what likeness to go right now. basically i found the new concept for street fighter 4 is quite different from the old concepts for SF3, especially the nose, they used to be flat and huge and that was what I did. I might try out the new concept though. However, I still prefer the big nose cuz I feel it makes him tougher.
I also shortened his legs a bit to help with the toughness as well.

Hopefully I will be albe to pose a update soon.

I made some updates over weekend. I am shooting for a high res render, so this has a good amount of details for me to work on the texture first. the pose is still in the air, but after I will find out once I finish rigging him. I would like to do more to the face and cloth once I upgrade my OS to 64bit.

Really nice Akuma man, you’ve done a great job with the likeness. In my opinion though, he doesn’t look nearly as enraged as he could. He looks like he’s generally pissed off or annoyed, or even grossed out a bit. Also, is there a reason you did a full body sculpt and then covered it with clothing? Seems a waste to hide all of the nice sculpting underneath. Keep going man!

Thanks for pointing that out. I really didn’t think about what kind expression he should have. and I agree with you he is not enraged at all. that is the weakest part right now. And I need to work on that for sure. For the extra body details, I was thinking about making a version without the shirt. The leg part is still totally wasted though. But I just thought it would be beneficial for me to do some practice.

You could also maybe put a few holes in his pants or shirt to make it look like he just got out of a rough battle. That would at least expose some of the hidden detail that lies beneath his clothing.

Good idea, I actually just saw couple screeshots of Ryu from street fighter 4 with new costumes, and his new pants have a very large hole and I think I will make another version of akuma’s clothing similar to that. :wink:

Ha! thanks, I think him having ripped clothing would also make him look tougher. I mean we could compare him to Goku, and he looks great with torn clothing like in THIS picture. Good luck, can’t wait to see the new clothing :+1:.

So tonight I was thinking about akuma’s face. i made the face based on the akuma face from sf3 3rd strike and the more I look at that the more I think i need to do some test with expressions. So I spend couple hours and made another expression based on a sketch by Ikeno, the art director and designer of SF4. I wasn’t shooting for 100% likeness on either one, just about the feel. And I think I need to work on his mouth shape more to get that kind feel. Here is the screenshot, what you guys think?

Maybe make the mouth a little more “pouty” and raise the outside corners of the eyes.

That should make him look more sinister.

Sweet work. I like it. Just some crits: Are you going for an older Akuma? Because the wrinkles are making him look aged. Maybe you can tone down the wrinkles and create distinct hard edges that define the bone/muscle structure on the face. Right now I can’t tell what’s muscle/bone, and what’s wrinkle/veins. Also, it seems like he may have too much cheekbone :slight_smile: . That can make him look old as well…Again, that may be the look you’re going for. Just nitpicking, looking great man :+1:

I need to work on the mouth and jaw more for sure. I did raise the outside corner a bit, maybe not enough. I will look into it tonight.

I think you are right with the wrinkle part. I should work on the major definition of the face and smooth out some unnecessary wrinkles for sure.

Cool sculpt!
I would personnaly make the nose edges and forehead sharper, like, more pinched so the edges come out more clearly. Eyes look a bit too small to me respect to the concept. Also the whole face looks too long (on the Y axis) and tip of the chine could me smaller.

Keep it up, thats definitly very good stuff!
