testscales.jpg

Been so busy on other things…finally found some time to relay the scales using Cylinder3D as base. So I tested out the stretching limit and see how it will be used in the future monsters.

Crazy details SolidSnakexxx ! Must have taken a while to get those looking this good. Amazing ! :+1:

This looks like a lot of fun. If you don’t mind showing us how did you replicate the scales along the cylinder?

Thanks

Some crazy scales you’ve got there, how the . did you create this? keep up the nice work dude.

Cool thread. Those scales are really impressive. Could you tell us a little more about the method you’ve used? Is each scale a seperate subtool? Thanks!

i’m guessing he used this awesome technique.

@TezZy:
Thank you very much. The scales were a bit of challenge for me as well :smiley:

@Nattawat_OBBI:
Thank you krub, glad you like it

@ivar_sn:

:slight_smile:

@Moni-Poroni:
You know I’m crazy >:D and hope you get net connection soon.

@MayaDamien:
The ZSketch is real pleasure to work with…The aliens from Pixologic have crafted magic once again,

@bomoh:
Thank you, sir…it took me a bit of planning the second time I laid the scales…it’s quite nice to see as whole…as well

@bLawless:

Let me find time to do a small explanation. I bet there are many ways to get the scales done right… mine’s still experimental.

@mutte696:
The process is rather simple…but tedious that is >:D

@Ereneflor:
Actually what I did was I created a single keeled scale…then I placed it along a cylinder3D (Which acts as the body of the Naga) then I clone it and alter its placement/rotation and small adjustments… For the first few I laid by hand…then after I have a few rows I started to use “Merge Visible Subtools” to clone multiple rows… and adjust each time I clone so they are a bit different. In the end after all have been laid. I’d turn them into one tool and will use retoplogy and ProjectAll feature to reduce some polygon. I’ll try to comp up a small process on how I did this…

@spaceboy412:
That method is quite cool too (Why didn’t I think of that) but the process how I did it is different…a lot less efficient.

@Gary Komar:
Yeah it’s hollow >:D right now…til it’s get projected on another retopped mesh. (I just love MetalGear Series…that I named myself after the protagonist of the game, can’t live up to his reputation though hehehe).

Your Zbrush sculpts are really stunnning! That dragon scale method is really amazing

Hey Yong, I`m back. Yay! :slight_smile: … Living without internet was a torture. I truly missed ZBC.
The last pic you posted is so cool. As I said before – I love those Z-cales ;)! Are you still working on this model or did you already finish it?

Hmm, how could I miss this thread?
Just looked through all the pages, some great stuff in here :+1:

Great scales! :+1:

@Stylize:
Thank you so much sir… Still trying to learn all the new Z3.5R3 features :smiley:

@Moni-Poroni:
Hope you have a fine new year…I was home and been practicing and learnign ZB/Vue :smiley: The model will be tweaked more and will be used to teach my project team :smiley:

@Santis:
Thank you very much… Gald you like the progress so far :smiley:

@Marsyas
The advent of Scale Brush really make things easy for me >:D

@Al.Tintop:
All I used was a modified Alpha with Scale Brush in ZBrush 3.5R3… the original one’s fine too but I altered it to have multiple scale tracks.

@calum5ZB:
Happy Holiday Season sir :smiley:

Small update…more on the ZBrush > Vue integration as I’m testing Vue PLE :smiley: This one I utilize Decimation Master that comes bubdled with ZBrush 3.5R3 The original model’s about 3 mil…I decimated down to 200k and it seems to hold details all right. The rest of the small details were sent out as bump channel in vue.

Looking very cool! :slight_smile:

Nice sculpt :+1: :+1: :+1: I like the concept.
BTW vue render looks like … vue :confused: You don’t need this for still images, do you?

@ Santis, thank you sir

@ michalis. :smiley: thank you for your crit… In its eventual form of the project there will be animation and a lot of it has to be the environment…That’s why I’m testing out Vue. Of course I’ll need to do a lot of studying on Vue as well especially on rendering topic.

cool looking scene man :smiley:

Xcelllent new works Solid … !!! Happy 2010 my friend !!!
