solarization project

Sorry to post my ubiquitous head again but I was using it to check out a traditional sabbatier effect.

I think you could achieve it with judicious use of gel shading and manipulating of the associated curves.

ah, thats the way i like it! adding own experiments!!! very cool and :+1: :+1: :+1: ones, Thelonious!!! and thank you to the pointer to the gallery, Pilou; the guy i will work for had a look into there as well and told me i should not stick to solarization alone, just do something pop-art-like-ish

so i sat down this morning and experimented with the wallpapermaterial with default textures (the ones with black background) inserted into S1 and varying values for sizes and offset. as suggested by Wayne and Zoid i also tweaked the rgb/contrast-graph and single r g and b graphs to no end… strange thing is, that i found out that this material, at least with the tweakings i had done in S2 for diffuse and so on reacted most to kind of solarization effects when i increased the lights global ambiance which i usually set low to zero and playing with the lights intensity graph. i still have to start experiments with the globalillumination feature.

sorry for the jaggies despite of the huge filesizes… dunno what i did wrong when compressing them to .jpgs and will have to work at really huge canvas sizes if it is decided to use this kind of technique to include into the catalogue to make them printable. now, in experiment-mode and restricted to work on an imac with 64 ram i work at 640by640 only.

i hope you like them, though and those of you interested in creating textures might find this use of wallpapermaterial and spherebrush inspiring

Great images, Juandel :+1: :+1: :+1:

I had to post to this thread, being a psychedelic refugee…This is the ‘wall mural’ painting from my Trayn Of Thot WIP, and I used the Contrast graph to produce this, which I sent to RoBo since his style inspired it…Although this isn’t strictly speaking Solarization, I think it shows the potential of this graph…

Very intersting thread. The images are all really good! :+1:

Just when I think I am starting to learn more in ZBrush, up pop new things to play with…

whooah, thats popping out of the wall, especially when looking through chromateks, SC!!! + :+1: :+1: :+1:

i am not into strict solarization myself, but twisting/making steps into that graph definitely does have some great effects. for the below ones i made use of it and variations of wallpaper-material once again:

Just stumbled into this thread and I have to say…WOW MAN!! Those images are like acid flash backs! I think you found your effect. GROOVY

I am lovin this thread…you are capturing the sixties perfectly yall

Hey Ron, Hansl and I were both there in full-boogie mode!

Yeah, like, far out, man. Like, heavy, y’know? I’m, like, really trippin’ on all this groovy ****, man. Do you hear what I’m sayin’, man? (Actually, I don’t think I ever really talked like that- well, not exactly like that- well, as far as I can recall, anyway…

Wow Juandel! These last ones really remind me of the 60’s. Truly psychedelic! They are all terrific but for some reason these last 3 really caught my eye!

:+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

hehehe, thank you, my friends! there is a locally famous quote by a mostly locally famous singer about the 80’s which imo can be applied much better to the years we are thinking of (well, he probably stole it of someone speaking about the 60s anyway): “whoever remembers those days cant have been participating”

btw, i found a perfecto way to make single .jpg files both jaggy and as huge as animations at the same time: overdoing it with a :ex: new 1.5 tool called contrast brush will do the trick! so, only for those interested and with a speedy connection here are links to the latest additions: a kind of zodiac and something else
