This is exactly what I am trying to learn right now…new zbrush user right here. For some reason I can no longer get to cannedmushrooms tutorials on this 
When I open the cleaned up SL avatar in Z 4 I click on the polyF button, I get the different parts of the avatar highlighted, but then when I go to the subtool to group split it seems I have to delete each part of the mesh I am not working on at the moment? This is where I get kinda stuck…can I not paint over the entire mesh? do I just delete the parts I am not working on then open new files to work on the parts as I move through texturizing the mesh 1 by one then clean seams in photoshop or can I do each part then somehow clean seams within Z…OR can I do all three parts of the mesh texturinzing and painting at one time??? If I cna get pst this point I will be on a roll! I wish I could somehow access canned mushrooms video
