Abe, so i was talking to my friend at work, and we arent sure what you are talking about. Do you mean making uv sets? From what i understand, obj’s only carry over vert and uv info, and nothing else, and form that zbrush makes the polygroups, that is why your polygroups have to be in diferent quadrants. So if you know how it works please let me know, i am curios. Peace

good job Katon! gonna be a kick ass piece when its done!

here is a quik explanation with a sphere:
1.create your sphere and go in face mode
2.select the face you want to be part of a group and go into create/sets/set and select the little option box
3.name your set (here set1)
4.select any other faces you want to be part of another set and create another set the same way you did it before,just give it a new name…
You can create as many sets as you want…and don’t forget that the unseted faces will be automaticly put in one group at the end in zbrush…
5.import your object in zbrush and enjoy

My models contain million of polygons and still looking on facetes in max7 :mad: … just disgusting …

Popoff, are you sure that have assigned any smoothing groups? Just go to the Modifier list -> Smooth or assign on in Editable Poly or Editable Mesh mode.

well i dont have a huge update or anything, i havent got to work on this much lately, but here it is. I worked out the horns a bit more, and cahnged up the brow a touch. Anyways, c&c welcome.

he’s looking pretty cool. One thing is bugging me tho…and not sure…if the teeth are just thrown in for the pic or not…or it could be lighting…but the upper lip seems too far out from the upper teeth for someone yelling like that?

anyways…hope ya can find more time to work on him…would like to see him colored up sometime.

nice update! concerning the upper lips i personaly think that its position actually makes sense when you look at how extreme the noise is posed…but guess it can be discussed :wink:

Thats looking cool! The only thing that bugs me is the line of the eyebrows - i think they should push in a bit earlier and make more of a curve. maybe?

I do have one question for you, what is the original poly count in maya?
Im guessing about 2.5k

and then what level are you taking it up to in zbrush? (poly count)

Im asking because im having problems on my home pc with detailed work.
it just doesnt display right at even 1.5m polys! and im sure theres enough there for the tightest of deformations.

aminuts- i see what you are saying, the teeth are actualy part of the model, i will look into that when i get home. Maybe i pulled the off a bit or something, but i do want them tite to the mouth. Good call But it might just be that dark shaddow underneath the lip making it feel like that, i will see.

sheb- glad you like it, but would you mind describing a bit more about what you mean in the brow? I dont quit get it

bedlam_1- I am glad you like it. I will check that game out for sure, but i was actualy tinking of doing mainly dark blues and blacks with some red in there, but not as the main color, but more around the eyes, horn base and some other places. I might have to do some quick color comps to see what i want.
As far as the poly count goes, i am not sure, i will check that out when i get home and let you know later, around 2k might be close. And right now in zbrush i think he is about 1.7 million, i dont want to go to the next level cause it then just gets way to slow, so if i do minor details i am goign to do it in the bump viewer. I also have 2 gigs of ram so it makes it easy at 1.7 million, so maybe upgrade some ram if you can.

Well thanks for all the feedback, hopefully i will get to a colored version soo, i really want to do a nice final render and everythign with this guy, i never have really made an actual final image before. Alright talk to you all later. Peace

Well I finaly checked how many polys are there, and it is about 5k. The base mesh is kind of high, but alot of that is the inside of the mouth and the eyes.

Well I decided to pick this guy back up tonight and try and work on it a bit more. I sat him aside for a while and had a little inspiration to do some more. I am not fully happy with everything i did, but i tried pushing some of the features and cuts and stuff a bit cause i know it will soften when i render it out. Anyways check it out.
