Sage Dragon concept

nice 2nd and 3rd pictures although in the first one the lower jaw is two far back or maybe its the skin thats pulled back to much, the ones where he’s angry is cool though

skeksis character = Dark Crystal, from Jim Henson’s Shop feature film - very cool!

rtwolfenstein,

I have the same feeling about that bunched up skin folds under his chin. They have to be refined some how, getting them more irregular, spreading them out little bit, with better flow angle related to the lower jaw and the mastoids might do the trick. We’ll see.

Thanks a lot for your valuable C&C.

no problem

Ejder thx again!! Very appreciated for your time! Im going to try your workflow, and lets see how it comes out. If you got any other workflow or technique you want to share later own, post it up!! Im a person that always want to keep learning new stuff from different artists.

Ohh I was going to forget. Very nice work with the teeth. The mouth area looks very nice with the sharper and detailed teeth.

Ok Ejder Thx again and have good one!!

Javi.

looks good man, but does this character speak or have much of a personality besides being a dragon? Because if he/she doesn’t, I’d make the eyes smaller and more to the SIDES of the head, to make it look more bestial. But it looks good to me!

You’re welcome, Javi. What I posted is not much to talk about. But if I come across to any useful tip related PhotoShop, I will definitely let you know.

Kangaroo – Yes He is one smart-ass talking dragon. Might even be little arrogant also. Pestopants summed up his attributes very well. Thank you for your comments.

Here is a Maya screen capture of subd model of his body. I have to figure out how to fit opposable digits (toes/thumbs) into this design.

Very nice ejder!! The dragon it’s coming out very nice. The teeth now gives him a little bit more of personality and more of a mean creature. Keep posting your progress!

Javi.

Awesoem ejder. Coming along fantastically. I Love the model, and it jsut keeps getting better and better. Very impressive work.

Hey Javi,

Those teeth are working out nicely. Aren’t they? I might scale them up tad bit. But let see how everything else will fit into the design. So far it’s around 660000 polygons. My plan is to use the bump viewer material/ PM to define higher frequency skin/surface details.

Matt,

Hopefully I will be able to recognize the diminishing return point and refrain myself from changing it any further. Sure, It’s too early to worry about that, but I know I can ruin the whole deal by over doing it.

Thank you for your comments, guys

Here is an other PhotoShop paint over to get the feel for further details.

Wonderful, magical work. Nothing beats a good dragon - and boy, this is good.

Drummer - Wow! 5 stars! Too generous of you. Thank you!

Rtwolfenstein - All that abstract forms and colors are to capture a dreamy, surreal mental state of an observer. In this case a nauseating fear mixed with an uncontrollable curiosity induced by an overwhelming admiration. I don’t know if it makes sense, but that’s what I am after in a nutshell.

Thank you for your nice comment.

BTW the blood is PhotoShop paint over. The idea is to later implement it with particle simulation in Maya.

lemonnado, Phil – I am humbled by all your comments. Thank you guys.
