Rudy's Sculpting Depot

Thanks guys for your kind feedback.

I’ll update with some of my clay studies. This was a long pose portrait.

This is very promising WIP! I particularly liked the eyes expression, don’t touch it anymore, please:D. Is it a sculpt from a model or just an imagination?

Hey Paul,
it’s finished as it is

It was a study from a model, 6 hour pose… I’d say with a free interpretation of the expression

Oh, I see, thanks! I didn’t want to hurt you with a WIP definition. I simply meant you might wipe out some clay pieces from the base… Absolutely astonishing work!

Hey Paul no worries, I love to hear every kind of feedback.

I myself as a human being am a big Work in Progress!

I actually fired it but still have to get back the piece.
Thanks for your warm post! Very much appreciated

This is another rendering. I’ve tried to capture a more moody feel…

I like the SSS effect on his ears.nicely done man.;);)

Well, in terms of the forum I feel myself more like a “Finished Project” rather than a WIP. Your great piece of art reminds me Rodin’s self-portrait, am I wrong?

Hey Paul,
I guess the model was very similar to Rodin  ! I’ll try to find a picture of his if I manage

Thanks for your very kind words

I’ve been busy in these months with relocations and a lot of other mess but here I’m with a little update.

This piece is called “Don’t call me Scrooge!”

Made in zbrush, max and vray.

Very expressive! :+1:

Thanks Anand,

I’ve just seen some of your beautiful pieces so it’s really nice to receive your words of appreciation.

It’s such a mystery to see how all this stuff we call body resounds to emotions, how they interact. I think it’s a beautiful subject to research in sculpture.

great sculpts…keep posting

Nailed it man. Keep it up.

Hey guys thanks for the kind words.

I’m updating the thread with some realtime stuff since I’m fine tuning my work towards gaming.

This is a 6k tris character with 1x1k map. Sculpted in Zbrush with some kitbashed greebles in 3DS Max. Retopoed in Topogun. Textured in Quixel 2 which I’m starting to love. Rendered in Marmoset. Credit of the basemesh goes to Nick Zuccarello.

Well done Rudy. What rending method did you use? Straight BPR, lightcap w BPR, Keyshot, or Marmoset? Thanks.
That was regarding “American Horror Story” Fan Art piece.

Hey there, thank you my friend. For Pepper I used Vray3 (in Max). I didn’t sculpt her with real-time in mind.

The shading I usually use is pretty simple with VrayfastSSS and some extra specs plugged in (for pre-rendered stuff).

I found some good light contrasts, a detailed diffuse map and displacement to be all you need to get a good skin out of Vray.

I didn’t use anything particular for hair. Just a plain Vray Hair material. With short hair and facial hair it does the job.

Hopefully this screenshot makes a bit clearer:

Long time not updating the depot guys but I’ve been extremely busy thanks God!
