Rocks Are Beautiful (WithZScript)

Hi EZ thanks. If you placed the texture in a folder and then imported the texture when asked for in the script would it work for the demo then? I was worried about that.
So I posted the texture used, so that it could be downloaded
Would you please do what is required and repost it for me? It would be greatly appreciated.

Joe

nope demo can’t import texture.
if you Post the Texture you used ill make a zscript were it would automatily load.
or was this the texture you used http://www2.zbrushcentral.com/zbc_uploads/user_image-1025316198ond.jpg

Thanks EZ the texture is the bark texture posted with the ZScript, just below the rock formation! you are right again that is the one.

Very realistic work DeeVee. The bark texture is quite believable as rock. All images you’ve posted are impressive.

when you pressed TEXTURE:INVENTORY:IMPORT thats were i added the Bark :small_orange_diamond:Rock.zip

I agree with Filament. Although I’ve taken numerous photos of bark for textures in PSP, I’d never thought of using them for rock texturing in ZB. I shall certainly give it a go now, having seen the results you have achieved. :+1:  :+1:

Thank you so very much EZ, your help will not be forgotten. Now the script will available to more members.

SURVIVING THROUGH THE ROCKS.

Another lonely Saturday night doodle. Just playing with tools, textures, and techniques.
Looked OK to me so I thought I would share it with the group.

very nice depth to this piece…how many layers did you work with? The crest of the rocks hints to me water on the other side between that and the trees in the distance…I always love your doodles truly :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Thank You so much for the script DeeVee.
Think I broke my hand in a fall at work tonight…so typing this is very painful and tricky…But I just wanted you to know that I have tried your scripts in the past and I find them to be terrificly helpful.
Cheers. (Yes it is my Z-hand!)

Posted twice by mistake…Ouch…Ouch…ouch…

I hope you are OK today.I am pleased to know that the scripts have been helpful. It will take more than a sore hand to prevent you from creating those excellent images.
Get better soon.

Dragon’s Lair - my contribution to this inspiring thread.

Basically followed the script (thanks DeeVee), but all on one layer and first changed the brush size to 50% Vertical on the Draw palette. Used digicam photo textures, two of birch bark plus plus one of yellow lichen on a rock in my garden. One of the former was also used for the back of the cave, then much darkened with the Highlighter Brush.

Figure imported from Poser, coloured (not textured) in ZB and Fibre Brush hair added (my first fumbling attempt without reading up on it, so please don’t mock).

Incidentally, I recall a much earlier thread where someone had been unable to import successfully from Poser 3, and I think the concensus had been to upgrade to version 4, which the author was reluctant to do because like me he had obtained version 3 for free on a cover CD. In case this is still of interest, this figure was exported from Poser 3 as a DXF file and imported into ZB as a polymesh object. First time I’ve done either, but no problems at all.

Fab image, I am so happy that someone has used this technique and produced a stuning image, thanks a lot, it is so simple, the only inhibition is one’s imagination. :+1: :+1: :+1:

I Put some of the rock textures I have been playing with together, as can be seen there is a very wide of textures available. These are just a few.

I am blushing at such praise from one whose work I greatly admire. :o

On the contrary, it is me who should be thanking you for sharing this technique with us. I agree: with a little practice, it is indeed simple to use but very effective, and I would encourage anyone to try it. But the real mastery is having the imagination to come up with the method in the first place. :+1:

very nice script joe…just ran it…and i love it…will have to do a landscape soon :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1:

Thanks Ron, It really simplifies things, at least for me.
I await your image Please post it here.

Water Over Rocks.
Just got back form the Doc, amd while contemplating my options doodled this image. Ever since FlyCatcher wanted to paint water flowing over rock I have been trying to get that feeling in an image. This is my latest effort.

… and a very fine effort it is too, DeeVee. :+1: :+1: :+1:

I had another go today too, at a larger size and with multiple layers of cascade coming down through Z-space. Didn’t plan it properly, so ran out of space on the canvas and abandoned it as an unfinished work, but that’s OK - I learnt from the experience, and know how to make it work properly for the future, so that’s all good. Thanks for spurring me on - I might not have put in quite so much effort without the encouragement and unspoken challenge. :+1:

(I hope your comment re “contemplating your options” sounds more serious than it actually is. :frowning: It certainly hasn’t affected your “doodling” hand, anyway! Take care.)

Thank you FC, as Pix says, “Inspire and be inspired”.
I think we both picked up a few new techniques doing this project.
