late late last night or early this morning depending on how you look at it. just messing around with base head shape and started on another alien doodle.
May be hard to belive with some of the crap i post here in my sketchbook…
But I made this for NECA a while back and its coming out in May. NECA owns Wizkids which produces the Heroclix line which i get to work on, but on occasion i get to work on “special” projects that are directly for NECA. I worked with Mr. Randy Faulk on this one, following the movie reference as close as possible. Most of the articulation and all of the LED work was done by NECA artists and they deserve as much credit for making him look awesome.
I will get permission to post Zbrush images as soon as i can. This one i am really proud of, Galactus will have to play second fiddle for a bit…until the next “special” project comes out.
Iron Man looks great! Nice job! Can’t wait to see the ZBrush images!
very cool, how much of this was done using Zbrush?
Terrific Iron Man collectible! Would love that on my desk! I already have one Iron Man collectible. The Mark 4 suit from Iron Man 2.
thanks for the comments guys. I think he was about 60/40 3dsmax and zbrush, I will double check the file dates at work but I think I finished him about 8 months ago and it has taken this long to see a final version of him. That’s the down side to working on collectibles, you work so far in advance you start to forget when you finished something and when its supposed to come out. Since he is a limited run I might have to buy my own figure, or it will be 12 months before I get my own copy from NECA to keep.
Started messing around with this the other night. Not sure what to do with him when the body is done, Jedi, Tribal Warrior, Sci Fi suit, Alien Basketball player…
Another dude. Polypaint and render in ZB. Props to artists who are really good with Fibermesh, took me a while just to get some simple eyebrows on this guy.
Havent added any real skin details like pores and wrinkles, just another wip in a long list of wip sculpts i have floating around.
Tried an older face sculpt for fun today
NECA Scalers sculpts. A few of the sculpts i created for Scalers. There are a few more that arent out yet so i cant show them, but its cool to see that people like them and want more.
Nice Iron Man and Galactus! One crit: The lower back on Galactus looks a little stretched.
Update on my alien guy.
Great work man, really good style and look
here is link to my thread on ZBC!
Cheers

Anatomy study that i should have done a long time ago
Looks like you modified Nick Zucc’s HMA model (http://nickzucc.blogspot.com/2008/08/human-male-athletic-final-model.html). Did you start with this as a base?
The left is Nick Z’s HMA download mesh, the middle is mine, the right is the ztool that comes with zbrush that i think is from Nick Z as well.
I used the ztool that comes with zbrush as a base for the size then built my own low res mesh around it using 3dsMax. Then i brought it into zbrush and started sculpting on it.
