Red Innocence

the braids work well… what may work a bit better is like yellehs said… braid on one side instead of both… but what i’m thinking is that if the braid was in front, slightly thinner/tighter, and followed along with the flow of her face from center out… you can maintain the child-like nature but not detract from the face. if it helps frame the face it will keep everything together…

i think
… this is a closer example of what im thinking :

the models arent the best example for innocence but i think one of those style braids with your model would work well.

but really what matters most is what you think about it man… it tis your work and it’s good work

I personaly like more the second one, the new. I think it seems to be more mature but still inocent… Good job i any case.

One braid i think is the better, and for the hair i reccomend you harifarm.

very nice…texture

Thanks for the comments guys.

which one is looking nicer?

  1. Both side hair with braids.
  2. Single sided hair with thinner Braids.
  3. Single sided hair with thicker Braids.

Feel free to give me more ideas

And i started to think about the Bg and FG possibilities.

I like #1 the best.

i agree, number 1# looks nicest, cause the hair frames the head evenly. aswell because the hair in general is made very nicely and looks convincing!

if i am allowed to nitpick, besides the modeling the hair looks right now the sharpest (best) then the skin and then the cloth

at this level, i would like to see some sharpness in transition in skin areas lips to cheek etc, better spec and roughness of areas would help

the cloth makes it look cg right now, i think you have to sell the material better, again some sort of noise/roughness and additional spec will make it sell better.

just my 2 cents and if i am unclear in what i said, please let me know and i will try to elaborate. my English is not the best

I vote for the first.Beautiful face and the hair are looking really nice:D:+1:

I think the one side with braid! I am not great at Zbrush yet but I can draw pretty good and I think I know when something is great so my opinion counts! lol

Some updates. I have been busy with work and i got some time last night to work on her scarf.
fixed some skin and also the cloth has normal map and also come fibres. may be they are nto visible:)
what do you guys think ?
i just feel may be her cloth texture is fighting focus? i mean her focus is more on cloth thatn her face?
advices?

This is beautiful.

I do not find the fabric too distracting. I think putting the hair inside the scarf was a good call. For me, the braid drew more attention than anything else in the older version.

I do agree with the comment that some sharper areas on the skin would be helpful. Also I agree that it would be good to have a bit more surface bump and will add(?) that I think the fabric needs some subtle bump to make it feel a bit more natural. Just a hint of the fabric weave could go a long way.

While I don’t find the fabric too distracting, since you do (and that is more important) I would suggest darkening the brighter red to lower the contrast between in the pattern.

Hi there buddy. I would say for me personally, I would maybe add some layers of dirt or stain and drop the saturation on the cloth to push it back. Maybe so tears. Otherwise choose a pattern with less repeats on it.

This is coming along very nicely! I just love the softness or your work!
I can’t see the normal on the scarf (but that might came from me :D) and I think that the cloth texture might be a little too present on the image.
Indeed you might want us to focus more on the face and not on the cloth.

Anyway, keep the good work coming, and keep sharing it

Nice work.

Beautiful! :+1:

poda - Hi Poda. Thanks for the Input. I Reduced the texture opacity. I think its not that powerful now as i wanted the focus to be on the face. I might do another pass and reduce little bit more may be? Not sure yet, what do you think now?

Angelblade - Hi Mate yes i am going to do a dirt pass on the cloth after i am done with the Base texture on this.

Braga.3D - Hi  Yes i felt the texture too be too strong too. I think its better now?

RJ the eccentric, asecbrush - Thank you very much.

Here are the new updates. Ofcourse its not a lot. I am just soo much in to battlefield now days loool . ahaha Its awesome.

anyways here are the details

  1. reduced the texture opacity on the cloth…
  2. I also added a little nosepin on her nose i dont know if i should keep it or not. I kind of like it. I think it gives little traditional look to her? what do you think. Please give your views. At the same time i dont want too many things going on her face.
  3. The eyebrows are now Geometry :), Previously it was texture.

I have provided both ther versions for your input.

Thanks so much

PS - Is the image too dark for you guys, I have some people telling me the render looks dark . I think my monitor calibration need to be fixed. If thats the case i’ll be really pissed >.<

I am back working on the skin. I am tired of playing with Vray and i dont know what to do to get good eyes.
So i started rendering with MR. and i like it… I loved the skin that i had with Vray and now rendering with MR to get the similar result. But i love the eyes that i am getting from MR. so i am gonna stick to MR for now.

I am having a weird issue where when i am rendering with MR and without any Normal map. Renders are ok and as soon as i plug the Normal map in the Bump slot on the Mr SSS Shader. Majority of the time Maya will crash, If it works then the renders are dark. I am sure i have turned on “Tangent space normal”

Please note i am using Linear workflow.

Anyone has got any clue? :o

In the next post i will post the Vray shader settings with texture maps. Sorry for the delay.
PS - Ignore the white hair in the second render. I forgot to change it

Hi Raj,

For the bump issue, try adding a MR materials > misss_set_normal node.

Like this:
bump2d > misss_set_normal (Normal Vector) > plug this into the bump slot on your shader. This will help translate the bump data. Hope that helps.

I am so excited to finish this project. Yes it did took a while for me to finish this as I was working full time and sometimes I was just not motivated to work on it.

My motive was to capture innocence in Red. Red considered to be dangerous and Innocence being contrast to red. I have put lot of effort in this. Not sure if I will be doing anymore changes. I might re do a render for a New Background image, lets see. Not sure at the moment.

Nice work.
