QRemesher

To be really blunt about this whole firefox/chrome only website issue(s) – I am not going to do anything until the Verold website is browser agnostic. I received a tweet from Verold (or somebody with knowledge about them) about the Website issues – “Apple makes it non-trivial to enable WebGL in Safari. Chrome/FF have really stepped up, and for now that’s our focus.”

To blame Apple for not being able to provide services for Safari, well, it’s easy to blame others and not work harder to find workarounds. This basically shifts the burden of utilizing this “Studio” on the user/clients. I’m not gonna explain to my clients why they have to change browsers (and for a number of them, they won’t change at all).

This whole “Studio” thing seems to be a product looking for an audience; and it doesn’t seem to be me or most of my client base – because w/o Safari support, there goes the whole iPad market. It’s like living back in the 1990’s all over again. Once was enough, thankyouverymuch.

I’m finding good workarounds for my re-topo needs. So Qmesher had better knock it out of the park to be worth buying. That is, if it can work on Macs…

I’m not expecting much of anything from Verold, so I don’t think I’ll be disappointed.

Redcap, while I agree that things will often taken longer than anticipated, they said that it was going to be an alpha version of the software released initially. Alpha is early software, maybe incomplete and buggy (you’re a developer, I know you know this but possibly not everyone does), but at least it would have gotten into the hands of artists to use.
There has been no communication from Verold which had not made people too happy. All things considered they could have handled this a little better.

Non trivial? How more trivial can checking a single menu item be? Safari->Develop->Enable WebGL

Like I said, it’s so easy to blame others, rather than do the work yourself. I think that I was given a ‘smokescreen’ that avoided the real issue: that development is being done by a bunch of amateurs looking for a big score. Instead of just disabling the “studio features” for their non-chosen-ones, they just block the entire website at the homepage. And I’m suspicious of any site that demands to be ‘signed in’ via a social media site.

I’m done typing now, have better things to do rather than rant on about kiddie-ware. :stuck_out_tongue:

Guys, we’re a small team. We made a design decision during development to work with Chrome and Firefox – both have stepped up to support open web standards. Apple hides WebGL in the developer toolkit in Safari; a user has to enable developer tools and then go into the developer menu to enable WebGL. Compare that to Chrome or Firefox, where WebGL just works.

But we listen. When we launched officially, we launched with Safari support. And we’ll enable WebGL in IE as soon as Microsoft makes it possible. We made a conscious decision when building the Studio to build it on the open web, without requiring users to install software (not even a browser plugin). We think that’s the right choice; the web should be interactive, and it won’t be long before all browsers support 3D natively.

On the question of the QRemesher: I’ll see what I can do about getting a video up that shows it working. It is awesome, and you’ll have it in your hands soon. …

Thanks Verold, looking forward to the QRemesher video!

We get that you are a small team. No one expects miracles from you guys, but no news at all for 5 months after a missed announced release date is pretty sucky, y’know?

Just a few words or pictures that took 10 minutes to post would have appeased most people, and some idea of price would really be nice. Many people (like myself) looked into remeshing after seeing the initial qremesher announcement, and then picked up 3dcoat or topogun since those utilites were already available and affordable.

Pending on price/features I might pick up qremesher as well, but my bigest concern is a release with showstopping bugs, and the same lack of timely support or news on updates.

As they say, the first impression is the most important. Zbrush’s initial impression was bad, I think, because of interface hurdles to overcome, but pixo stuck with it, and over time, earned back the respect they lost initially.

With luck you guys will have the same success.

considering siggraph is coming up in a couple weeks, i’m thinking that that qremesher details will be kept till then? kewl… looking forward to details. especially capability and especially price.

QRemesher yes can not wait - cant wait - cant wait

Note at 0:17, there appears to be usage of Qremesher.

I would like to call it Zmesher.

Any news on the preview video yet?

Btw, what is the your definition of the word “soon” ?

Siggraph. They should have released it in the spring as intended before. Give the community a chance to offer feedback and ideas. Instead they held onto it and added more functionality. While I think more functionality is nice the feedback from their users would be more valuable and added better ideas and functions for their Siggraph release.

Which means any real news is probably at least 30 days away.

QRemesher starts to feel like a scam - reminds me of Silo…

So what happened? About 20 minutes ago I saw all these new ZB classroom videos for Qremesh on the main page marked as R4 and now they’re gone.

Can I find these elseware, or was it just a mistake on the site?

I am wondering too, it looked really promising.

Hopefully it means a full announcement is coming soon!

I’m tired of having to leave ZB for quick retopo solutions and it seems Qremesher will be more than just a topo tool.

Maybe tomorrow will be the big day!
