problems with high freq details in Proj Master

Hello all,

I am tryingt o apply some high frequency details from an alpha map I created from Elephant skin. I am at Subdivision level 5 and I apply the alpha with a simplebrush in the projection master. It looks good. I pik up the object and wham, the texture disentigrates into a lumpy mess loosing all the details. It seems to be closer to what I want when I use it as a mask so I know the object’s geometry can handle the resolution of the detail in the map.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong? i have tried using bump brush and simple brush as well.

You can try playing with intensity levels. If your alpha is mostly middle gray you might have some troubles…there is a max button in the alpha menu that might help…also use the button next to it to set the radial falloff to somewhere in between 10-15. That should give you a better alpha to work with…allowing you to set some higher intensities without outline problems.

at level 5 how dense is your mesh? obviously the denser the better for those fine details. I do the above…I also make sure material is off…I use rgb only with no color or textures and play with intensity levels til I get my desired results. don’t forget to write your settings down for future reference…it makes a big time difference for the next model!

well theres a few ideas for ya to try…hope one of them helps!
