I’m noticing a lot of people saying things such as “This is great!” and “well done!” These are ridiculous understatements. This is one of the most incredible zbrush renders I have ever seen! I might go as far as to say the absolute best render I’ve ever seen! Phenomenal! I hope this ends up in the freaking Louvre!
How did you map the diffuse? Do you take photographic texture or do you paint it from scratch? What do you use for material settings?
Very inspiring…I saw this image years ago in National Geographic with its auspicious qualities.
Wow, you’ve done a fantastic job with one of the iconic photos of the modern era. Saw the eyes in the top row and instantly knew what it was, but I didn’t think you’d nail the rest of it as well as you’ve done. Great work.
I so remember the doco about the photographers hunt to find the girl after 20 years had passed (or perhaps 15, I don’t remember). It was incredibly revealing to see what life had done to her innocent beauty. It was completely drained by the harshness of a life in a war-torn nation, and exacerbated by poverty and the domination of the religious zealot men who ruled every aspect of her life. One couldn’t help but reflect that in different circumstances she could have matured into a truly stunning woman with those haunting green eyes. But poverty took a cruel toll on the little girl who had her life ahead of her, and even at this tender age it’s clear that those remarkable eyes have seen things a child should never have to deal with. Fantastic work to bring this haunting photograph back into focus for a younger generation, congratulations.
OK, I see posts like this and think people are giving much too much credit to the Zbrush work here and much too little credit to the power of the original photograph that is the inspiration. Seriously folks, this is more a piece of photo collage than an original artwork or render. Sorry to relapse and be a stubborn mule, but there it is.
very well captured indeed, looks quite like the photo…
still a bit too glossy tho on the skin, just a lil bit
the cloth looks like it was painted imo
the eyes are as far as i remember much more blue, like really really blue
but you really got the expresion right
nice job indeed
p.s.
your homepage might need a better english translation, its understandable but not quite correct yet
id also suggest to use low resolution pics for your thumbnails, the time to load them is quite long atm
Congrats on the top row! Can we see some zbrush closeups of the head without the texture?
I remember this photo from National Geographic. Wow, really awesome execution.
Wow! Excellent work
the cloth looks a very high polycount if you made it with zsketch
it is realy sooooooo nice
i remember that picture from national geographic like it was yesterday… i was sad to see that same girl now a woman had look like she had a very hard working life… however, you have recaptured her youth beauty exceptionally.
congrats.
was this not NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Most famous photo taken…
nice one i like
amazing job dude!
Top row, the model came out great just like the photograph. Great work.
very very Nicee,
amazing work!
Love this picture.
Only thing that kinds of distracts me is the clothing.
I think the lack of texture in the fabric makes the clothing look painterly, while the rest feels photorealistic.
Great work !
well done model of the head but im not sure how much of this is real zbrush sculpting and how much is photo mapping…
I dont like to push this button - but you actualy used the photo of this girl for diffuse map - with shadows ect… so its a bit feaked. Right and lef side of the texture is so different… Like i sad i dont like to say this but its not full cg work ( i dont mean that photos cant be used on textures ofcourse… ) its about diffuse texture most , should be done by you from skin pieces ect from some of your photos or stock photos, painted some - without lighting ect on it…same with eyes … all that stuff should be 3d , not “camera mapped” from oryginal photo . Put camera mapped photo on 3d model is not big deal… Prove me please if im wrong - than i will appoligize you with pleasure. But for now i see a bit feaked this, and you should admite this somehow because lot of people will not sleep nights how you did this .Same with cloth , its bit mixed with photo as well in few places… on cloth model screens its seen that is not full mach final image. Again, if im wrong im sorry if not you should sorry i guess
