try this…after creating the displacement…save the alpha…as alway making sure to note the offset.
Now in the alpha menu click on the alpha curve. you will see a load button. there are two premade scripts …one for extreme pos and one for negative…using your original displacement run one each for each. this will give you perhaps a more precise way than the 50% grey alpha displacement alone for the program you are using.
In my experience they seem to happen when the project is working well. I have a thread that covers the same sort of thing. The project in question was started after I read this thread; naturally I was extremely careful to avoid those pitfalls, but since they only show up in external renders, what can you do?
