**** Pixologic Release: UV Master (WIN & MAC)

Wow. Wow wow wow oww oww woo wee!
I just tried this out and it is incredible. UV mapping was the thing I hated most about 3D work. ‘Snarl,’ I used to say, ‘I’ll never get that day back!’ But now UV mapping just make me laugh. Oh joy.

Grabbing this!!!
Just on question before i dive into the PDF.
I have a character model in Max, can i apply an unwrap to the model, paint the seams where i want the UV’s to divide, import to Zbrush, run the UV master and export out both the UV texture map (for painting in Photoshop) and te model back to Max

God, i hope so,would free up so uchtime than uwrapping in Max

kick ass plug in ! i would love to use it !

i also like the music track running with the video
Did anyone know who is the artist ?

For the most part, yes. The only place where you’re not quite right is that you can guide the seams, but not place them precisely. Although if you used polygroups to define islands that will always result in a seam at the edge of the polygroup – so you can get precision in that way. But UV Master is not meant to be used as a laborious process of placing seams exactly. It’s meant to be a very fast, yet high quality, tool to get the UVs done so you can move on to more enjoyable things.

I’ve been critical of Pixologic in the past, mostly for the way they handle Mac development. I have to say that UV Master is one of the most exciting and useful features I’ve ever seen in ANY 3D program. Along with Decimation Master this really enhances ZBrush.

Credit where it is due. Hats off to your development team for this amazing new feature!

lets hope it will be same or better than other UV utilities out there

Which would be just about anything.

You guys are really amazing! It’s even easier than Modo

thank you very much … good…

These plugins have really made a great difference when it comes to speeding up production, and this latest UVmap plugin combined with decimation master has produced an amazing opportunity to save time and still output highly detailed models with pretty good UV’s. Of course if you want spot on UV’s you do have the option of using subgroups which is an excellent way to fine tune your controls if you decide to. Decimation master has almost taken away the need to mess around with other maps when taking a model into max and so I can get the same resulting image in both programs without a concern, let alone having the wonderful possibility of working textures further in PS if required. Thanks guys for succesfully stream lining an exciting part of this industry

This is really amazing. The one thing so tedious i just couldn’t push myself to learn made as easy as the push of a button.

Thank you very much.

I’ve installed UVMaster and it works great but…

I cant figure out how to get the files “UVMaster_c1 - c4” to appear in zbrush. Where am I supposed to put them? I tried both the Ztexture and the textures folders with no luck. Any pointers?

Otherwise I love this thing!

Aw, I love you guys!!
What a fantastic step forward!!

You could put them in the ZStartup>Textures folder so that they automatically load when ZBrush launches. Or you could put them in the ZBrush 3.5R3\ZTextures folder so that you can quickly load them when desired using LightBox.

I’m looking forward to Topomaster

ZStartup/Textures is exactly what I wanted. Coulda sworn I did that with no luck but it worked this time. Thank you so much.

You can import the UV Master mapping grids from pretty much anywhere on your drive. Just click “Import” at the bottom left of the Texture window and then navigate to where you have them stored. After import the new texture appears in the narrow upper window on the Textures palette.

Alright thanks for clearing that up, I think il just use Zmapper instead. I told my 3d lecturer about the problem and he said the same thing. Thanks

Hi, great Plugin!

Don’t know if it has been mentionned, but on certain models the application hangs after I paste the UV.

Someone know if this works with a little 256 diffuse map?
