…indeed!
Thank you Marcus! Testing it right now for my last creations I just did!

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.
I’ve released an update (same download link as before) with these improvements:
- Frames are now accurate for a full 360 degree turn, whatever the frame rate.
- Best Render for all frames if this is on when the movie render is started.
- Smoother follow on for when adding movies together.
Eric,
The Mid point acts as a magnet, curving the path between the Start and Stop positions, so it isn’t actually reached. The effect is shown here.
grassynoel,
The GI shadows issue has been addressed in this update. Your other suggestion is interesting and I will bear it in mind. In the meantime you could use any method that saves positions such as Markers or ZAppLink Views. Just recall the ones you want when setting the Turntable Plus buttons.
skullbeast,
I don’t fully understand your question. What files did you want to get where?
HTH,
Fantastic. The guys here will be pleased with your tight turn around on the update. Great work.
Glenn
Great plugins. Thank so much.
great new feature … thanks
thank you !
Wonderful tool, thanks.
Frames are now accurate for a full 360 degree turn, whatever the frame rate.
I’ve downloaded the newest version (TurntablePlus04.zip) and I tried to make a 360° movie.
The result looks me apparently ok but a little bit strange…
… so I tried with 6 spin cycles and the result that I saw is not 360°x6 but maybe 358°x6.
For me is not a really problem, so don’t worry !
Another thing Marcus, I saw the Your script for render in HD all subtools and the smart Bingo_Jackson method. Maybe you use the same way for this Turntables Plus? Becouse if is the same maybe you can incorporate this cool script in this ipercool plug
Anyway thanks a lot for all and excuse my homemade english!
Thanks for the comments guys.
WoL_,
In the digital world accuracy is always to within certain tolerances…
And yes, I’m planning to add in image export for using in ZBorn Toy or After Effects. But also so you could render a single image with HD Geometry and export it just like the HD Render All script.
Cheers,
marcus, this is a cool plugin, and i somehow think it could lead to a somewhat rudimentary animation plugin. However right now i have a question, i’ve noticed that when you render out 3dlayers it really only does the one selected, not all the layers that are on, i had hoped that it would be possible to animate all visible layers from 0 to 1 simultaneously, is this even possible?
spaceboy,
Thanks for the comments.
Yes, currently it only adjusts the selected layer (although for all visible subtools that have a selected layer). The main reason for this is simplicity of operation. The coding would be possible but I was concerned to keep the operation simple and straightforward, without too many options. It is easy enough to merge layers for the purposes of using the plugin:
- Switch on all layers.
- Store Morph Target.
- Switch off all layers.
- Create new Layer and press Morph Target>Switch. The new layer can be used for the turntable and switched off and deleted afterwards.
marcus, thanks, i guess that works, guess it was too early for that to occur to me.
Hi,
I was wondering how would one attempt to do a Wireframe roll-over with Turn table plus? I was thinking you could probably render out the same camera moves, with your low poly mesh with wires on, and then some how place the wires on top of the high res in a comping program or something? But then that raised the question, how would one isloate just the model, and not have the ZBrush black to white gradient in the background? Any response will be greatly appreciated, thanks!
-Kevin
Hi there Prospect.
To get rid of the gradient background:
- Under the “Document” menu, turn the “Range” down to zero
- Set your color palette to the color of your choice (whatever will be best distinguished from your model. I usually use white, but there are time when that might not be best)
- Under the “Document” menu, click on the “Back” button. This will seT Your background color to the current color of your color palette
The next thing you’ll need to do is export an image sequence.
I haven’t tried out the turntable+ plugin yet, so I don’t know whether you can export an image sequence with it, but you can using a zscript that Marcus_Civis created called RotateAndExport. The link to it’s post is here:
http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=55180&highlight=rotate+export
The script as Marcus posted it only makes a frame every 15 or so degrees though, so I’ve made an alternate version of his script that makes a frame every degree, which I think is best for doing full-motion rotations. I’ll post that with this reply. See the original post for notes on it’s use.
After you’ve got your image sequence you can create a photoshop action that will extract the background and create an alpha channel. I’ve included a zip file with this reply that contains a photoshop action file. This Action file has two actions that both create alphas, but use the one titled “MiscHead02Alpha”, that one is better suited for a variety of material types that might be used. Place the file in following directory:
Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions (you decide whether to put it in the “Program files\Adobe” directory or the “Documents and Settings\User\Application Data(A Hidden folder)\Adobe” directory).
Finally, just run the photoshop action on the image sequence via photoshop’s batch processing function (under: “File\Automate\Batch”) and photoshop will do the work for you - your done. Your image sequence\s are ready for comping in the comp software of your choice.
Thanks so much dude. I really apprceciate it, I’ll be sure to be posting my reel here in the next couple of months to show you what I used it for =]. Thanks again.
-Kevin
No problem. Oh - I forgot to mention that the photoshop actions are created with the assumption that you used white for your background.
Good luck
Cool Plugin, I would like to see a new feature for saving each Render to an image file while rendering in ‘Best’ Setting. I am currently rendering a High res turntable and its taking 2 mins per render for 360 frames, thats over 7 hours of it rendering without the images being saved, and the power somtimes might go out for a sec. So I am running the rist of losing the renders, in which is what happened while i left zbrush rendering overnight, only to find my comp off this morning and my digital clocks blinking. Please, someone make a plug to save the images while rendering, Like in any other program.
Thanks and cross your fingures for me while re-rendering and 8 hr render.
LennArt,
Thanks for your comments. Exporting to image files is on my To Do list and I hope to do it soon.
On your power issue, I have the same problem of power going off briefly and recently invested in a UPS - you can get some reasonably priced ones, mines a Belkin. Worth it for my peace of mind!
Totally awaiting the ability to output image sequences…
The only downside so far is the inability to resize the move to say 720x480
least I figured out how to yet
