With Plakkie being from the Netherlands, bicc, he will be most likely interested in “Drop”.
Unfortunately this substance might be not easy to get anywhere outside of the Netherlands.
(got this info from a fellow man of you, Plakkie. So I must depend on the truth of what that man from the Netherlands said about “Drop”
).
Wish I could be there, but I had to help out a friend that got marooned in the upper Midwest.
He was absolutely right about the mysterious powers of that substance called “drop”; I just ate one, and now I’m going to take over the world!!!
bicc39: I’d be very interested in everything Pixologic could show me at Siggraph, and I’d like to have seen the Newtek stand. Syflex for LW seems exciting. Also I’d like to meet all those people I I only know from the forums. I’ve only been into 3D for 3 years, so everything is still very exciting to me. I’d just walk all over Siggraph to see whats new on the market and smell the enthousiasme and thrill of all those 3D and digital art fans.
But alas, concerning 3D the Netherlands are maybe a bit the end of the world. I’m very happy with Ryan’s posts and the posts from people at Siggraph: gives a feel of ‘being there’.
@ Plakkie: well (making being absolutely right a habit:D): just visit one of the fabulous flea markets in your country, and you will probably get more Siggraph then you ever wanted!
Personally, I enjoyed your “end of the world” (3D or not) every time I visited your country. Ok, maybe one must like fresh fried shrimps or pancakes to do so, but I wish there would be more ends of the world like that!
Now, where are my orange socks…
Flea market, fried shrimps, pancakes and drop; the four things that makes the end of the world inhabitable.
I always think France has the best flea-markets. You say Siggraph is like a flea-market? Can you then go say to a stand with Maya boxes and negotiate about the price? Pick up a bargain package of Realflow with 90 percent discount? In that case I’ll fly over there right now!
It’s nice to hear you like my country. I find the flatness of the landscape depressing sometimes, but on the windy day with sun and clouds it can be a nice place to live in. Just curious: where are you from Zaphod?
Boring! Not anything my nick would suggest - sadly but true: I come from a place where flatness is only present on some species of the more gentle folk:D, where hills ar minimum tending to be overseen easily because of nothing but mountains…
Bavaria.
The region in Europe where your fellow country folks are only driving through, hordes of them, several times per year.
But, like one of our “Ministerpräsident’s” once said, we are the Texan’s of Germany (most Bavarians are brighter then he was) - like I said: BORING!!
Ah, Gutentag Herr Zaphod.
People should move to another country once a year to stop getting used to where they live.
I’d give much for living between the mountains, but one probably gets used to that as well. Last year a friend of mine went to Bavaria for holliday, so not all of the Dutch are passing by. (Don’t know if you must be happy with that)
Just saw an on-site movie from Siggraph, and it’s bigger then I even realised. All those companies showing of their new cool features… must be cool!
Well (sorry but I can’t “strike back”, language wise) -
there is a saying here that Bavarians are the missing link between being Austrians and Humans
, and so I guess that every visitor will surely be an improvement!
(to ALL Austrians here and everywhere: the sentence above does NOT reflect my thinking in ANY way!!)
Thank you for the link! I get kind of claustrophobic in big crowds, so this will be a safe way for me to see a life version of Siggraph!
Zbrush T-Shirts, Zbrush caps…
What more? key holders!
I do so loves me some ZBrush keychain. Yessirree!
(got one at Siggraph 2004, and another at Siggraph 2005. One of them broke eventually, but I do still carry both everywhere. They’re just very nice. Tangible weight, spinning element to play with… What’s not to love?)
That’s what makes a GUI that much precious: it stays, stays…stays:D!
Zbrush T-Shirts, Zbrush caps…
What more? key holders!
Your wish is my command.
