Pixologic Announcement - The Roadmap to ZBrush 2.5

I don’t think zbrush will be passed up yet. It’s the king of plygon count. Nothing on the Hexagon site shows it capable of supporting the level detail that Zbrush can spit out.

Conversely, that easy edge creation/manip and creasing is awfully tempting. Which is why I am considering both Zbrush and Hexagon.

To compliment ZBrush, I think Silo’s a better choice than Hexagon. Less cost, and less overhead due to features ZBrush already gives you (and handles better).

Just one opinion; your mileage may vary.

You guys talk to much.
And who the F cares abaut you ppl saing you stop using zbrush becouse there is no update ? Just stop, and dont spam this thread …
I like the funny posts in here, btw nothing is perfect, but this forum is getting close, so i love it :]

 and here i thought there would some interesting news again with the thread on top arrggg

Btw that modo thread nice vid :+1:

Grrr, the same with me, but it was you

Who said no news is good news??? :rage:

Well I would agree with opinion, Hex does look very capable though, but Silo + Zbrush have the edge without a doubt…

I like to use Zbrush with…errr…ZBrush…and on top of that a little bit of cream, wipped with…yes…ZBrush. No more no less :small_orange_diamond: :small_orange_diamond: :small_orange_diamond: :small_orange_diamond: :sunglasses: :warning:

Ps…can someone show me the map of the road to Zbrush 2.5…can’t find it here:confused:  :grimacing:

Note the version of zBrush being offered as a prize in this challenge.

I think the release is “Real Soon Now”

Or… it could mean the prize is a copy of 2.0 and you will get 2.5 when it’s released.

Raining on the parade

Kinda chill 'roun here yo???

Well, it was about time! :stuck_out_tongue:

I assume we’re talking not much further in interstellar terms? By this logic alpha centauri is just ‘round the corner’.  Although to be fair 2.5 wont effect my workflow at all, V2 does enough for me at the moment.

Wayne…

It will affect my workflow…as I’ll hopefully be able to use it on my 64bit machine with 4 gigs of ram without having to dual boot or edit my boot.ini or gutting it of 2 gigs of ram etc. I just want to install it and go. RIght now, I just jump back and forth from the old box to the new one which is reaaaaaaaaaaaaally getting old. I hope pixologic releases SOMETHING soon. Z-mapper and the other plugs are great…but dang man…it’s been like 2 years since they’ve actually released. Im guessing they won’t be releasing until Siggy which really sucks :frowning:

The chopper will be here in a few minutes. There is no wind, that is excellent.

The plan is to swing you on the end of the rope through the window.

Your night “cammies” fit tightly. Your breath is coming in gasps now… almost time.

Your equipment is ready.

Face is blackened to blend with the night sky.

Belt with fragmentary grenades and spare clips are fastened to your chest.

Strapped to your ankle is the commando knife that has served you

faithfully for years. The Glock semi probably won’t be needed but better

to be sure. The riflle is set for automatic fire.

Helicopter sets down in the lot. Good, no-one around for miles.

You cling to the rope as the chopper lifts off. If spotted it will be assumed to be the

weather or traffic helicopter.

You arrive at the building, you swing in and back. As you swing forward the second time, you

fire. The glass bursts into tiny fragments. You swing in.

Made it!!

Despite the hour, you can hear a warm, sensuous, compelling voice.

" …it enables you to push and pull, like sculpting in real time…"

You would know that voice anywhere,

You look around, there it is on the desk!!!

You run to it, amazed, right there in front of you…The Upgrade!!!

or

You can wait patiently like everyone else.

Decisions, decisions.

For what it’s worth, I’ve found that by starting Maya and then Zbrush, I can use Zbrush in XP64.
I have 4GB ram, don’t know if this will work for north of 4GB.

I’m glad I dont have to wait this long at the doctors… (2 years???)
Patience MAY be a virtue …but I never was one for virtues. Maybe its just taking a REAL long time to design the packaging and advertising material? PMSL.

Wayne…

Aurick, please lock this thread.

Its frustrating to see it bumped and check it for new info, only to see its one of the same few lackwits who cant understand that if it aint done, it aint done, and whining and trying to exert pressure to change that is only going to result in rushed results (at best).

Whenever we do see the new version, I need it to work, and I need the v2.0 bugs to be gone. No amount of “neato” new features will be worth anything if they cant be used reliably in a production workflow. I have confidence that you understand this, and I support you in taking as much time as neccesary to make this happen.

For those who have checked this thread, hopeful of new info because of my bump, I apologize.

This threads time has passed. No ones being informed of anything after 20 + pages of hand-wringing and speculation, and its only becoming a source of contention.

Sh******…now I realy thought…but no… :frowning: :large_orange_diamond:

Second the lock the thread motion!

Whenever there is a post, the heart beats faster.
If you are reading stuff like this ,it takes you away from
working on the upgrade

Well as one of the ‘lackwits’ (all be it one who’s posted in this thread a grand total of twice) I find it rather interesting that the idea of locking this thread comes up. Lets remember that Zbrush is an application not a religion and like any human beings, pixologic are capable of errors of judgement, mistakes and generally being just as human as the rest of us. If they as a company aren’t prepared to allow people to say the bad things as well as the good maybe they shouldn’t have started this board in the 1st place.

I find it deeply worrying that of late we’ve seen posts mysteriously deleted (or ‘missing in action’) and members deleted for dareing to simply exercise there right to free speech… (amongst other things.) Isn’t it a little worrying to anyone else that people who’ve pointed out posts where a CLEAR date was given (and long past) have been deleted and all traces removed of this mysterious date?

The feedback of customers is important to any business serious about maintaining their market share. As is the goodwill of your customers. To deny people the right to negative as well as positive feedback, will only mean that over time good will is lost in the long term. No business wants that.

While there will always be diehard ‘fans’ of a an application (or OS for that matter) who stick through thick and thin with it, but the majority of users see it for what it is…simply a tool to be used to do a job. So when an upgrade is taking more time than it usually would, people are right to be a tad anxious. If they wanted (or needed) to spend a lot longer on 2.5 maybe it would have been better to have gone straight onto version 3. A simple comment or excuse would have lowered the anxiety levels of a lot of worried customers. It doesn’t have to be a good one…just a believable one. Instead we get silence.

It’s been said that as it’s a free upgrade people shouldn’t winge. Now as people have paid for V2 already any upgrade can easily be seen as part of the deal. So yes, we have already paid for the ugrade in one way, although I do admit it does depend on your point of view. (As does a lot in life).

To leave customers hanging out to dry is not showing respect that your customers deserve. To ban people who give more back to the Zbrush community than they every take is a bad move as far as I’m concerned. Trying to exert control over a board (that addmitidly is run by the company making the aplication) so that people only see the good things about it says only one thing to me. Although I’ll let you work that one out for yourself.

I’m going to consider myself banned from this board (and I’ll be suprised if this post lasts more than 24 hours before disapearing into the ‘void’). My tutorials and links to my site and forum will be removed (as those who want to visit already know where it is). Although in closing I do urge ZBC, pixologic and the mods (and there multiple ID’s  ) to show the buyers of Zbrush some respect and bite the bullet and once and for all set the record straight. That way this thread will die and peple will at least know where they stand. One thing I’d like to add is that to be frank the features I’ve seen so far in 2.5 aren’t really worth the wait (at least not to me or the way I work). I’ve had hours of pleasure at this board but the recent changes here make it impossible for me to stay.
