Apple would degrade ZBrush anyway. Think of the IPod. You can get music in but not out. Wouldn’t be good for ZBrush.
You can import your model into ZBrush, but you can’t export it. Seems like a bad idea if Apple is behind it.

Actually, you can get music off of an ipod without extra software, at least with a PC it’s possible. There’s usually a workaround for little problems like that…
I have to use macs at college in my computer graphics classes. I like the GUI of macs, but OMFG do I hate the remainder of all that is mac. In my experience, they’re definitely made for those who are constantly afraid of messing up some crucial component of an OS and wouldn’t dare do any risky exploration of the system or attempt anything that isn’t “supposed to be done”. My cousin Kim, a mac user, agrees.
OK tgraupmann, that’s not funny! I feel really old now. Most of the people on this forum were not even around for that. I wish I wasn’t, we still haven’t realized the promises of the industry from back then! Oh, by the way music can go both ways to an iPod and everything else, all the necessary tools are part of the Mac OS. Not sure about Windows ability, but it shouldn’t be too hard. I prefer my second generation with firewire, greatest tool since the Newton (yes, still have it, still use it) and PSP. Oh I also still use my Cube religiously, and it is modded. My Windows box, that is full of bells and whistles gets rather dusty between uses.
smokebox46and2, you really don’t know that much about Mac’s do you. It’s no differnt than the Linux box beside me, or even Windows for that matter. If you don’t like certain features, turn them off, whittle the made for masses system down to a very efficient light sytem that you love. After all, you can compile almost all opensource apps and tools on them and they are far better suited for many things compared to the out of date options. Of course that’s just me, and what could I know.
For those that don’t like Apple, you are not the masses they are after and getting. Althouh most Linux gurus love the little things, albeit with a flavour of Linux running on them.
Love this thread, rumours are such a wonderful waste of time.
I was about 12 at that time. I loved the Apple ][.
What i didn’t know about apple before, I know now… It wasn’t a waste of time after all, Jason. Thank you
(admin mode) stay on topic you guys, if you want to talk about how you love or hate the Macs, start a new thread.
Speaking of the topic…umm, its almost March, maybe a update from the developer is in order? a progress report, if you will.
[gossiipmode] maybe autodesk is busy again[gossipmode/]
( mode) Long time ago there was an announcement, maybe we forgot what this thread is about?
I just visited a mile-long thread on a Lightwave community forum full of overenthousiastic ppl waiting for Lightwave 9. Now I’m looking here, and what do I see, all the same thing! Hah, it’s good to see ppl still so eager for all the new stuff and possibillities (don’t think I got that word right :o) the new upgrades may bring. I’m very new to Zbrush, and hey, I can’t wait for 2.5 to arrive too!
But, to speak with the famous Dr. Einstein: “Time vill tzell… sooner or lllater… time vill tzell”
I know I haven’t. I am going nuts waiting for this! Why when I have the money to finally advance away from free or cheap programs all the ones on my list are all involved with putting out a new version?
Now I gotta wait to make sure one doesn’t get something in there new version that might have made a difference. CRAP!
They gonna make us zalivate for it.
Since we waited so long do you think once we get the new version we may not be as excited or are the new features worth waiting even another 6 months.
something i was wondering about a couple nights ago as i was trying to get to sleep, which hopefully can be clarified before the release: the “stratospheric increase in the poly count” mentioned, is that with similar hardware configurations, or is this accomplished on a machine with 4gb of memory? more specifically, if one’s computer can handle 2 million polys without choking now, what can we expect to be able to handle with 2.5?
I think we just might be going straight to Z3, the time spent on 2.5 has to be bringing it closer to 2.8 by now! (chants) Come on Z Come On!
I agree, I think an update on the progress of z2.5 is at hand. something, even a fart of dust blown this way that reveals a date of sorts would be nice. even if they say it comes out in 6 months. just to have something to look forward to. . . . AGAIN!!!
Hey guyzzzz, but where’s the T Shirt, ok… I’m sure that Zbrush is coming at the end of the week !!! Keep cool, the most incredible software is coming… we need to make a big party!!! A fabulous thread about it !!! Comon heaven is coming… I beleive now ! I beleive !!! Aleluya

I am also very interested in this. What kind of polygon increase can we expect from 2.0 to 2.5 on the same machine?
I would take that fart straight in the face even if it was just a sometime within some month info!
March 20th Games Conference.
If you go back to the time around siggraph (2005 – since this topic may still be alive in a year or two) I believe they* said that they could get more out of the same setup with their new stuff, but they did not say how much more.
Also speculating how much more is pointless because different systems will yield different results, and also they may have made significant improvments in the last 6-7 months.
