Excellent work Pedro! Don’t change anything. I can’t believe people are criticizing an imaginary creature!!!
Are the striations on his abs achieved purely with claytubes and smoothing?

It’s called a critique. It’s constructive criticism. I’m not saying the work isn’t awesome. I realize it’s imaginary but I think it ads to the realism when it’s anatomically correct (If a 4 armed creature were real.). Arms are pushed forward by a lot of muscles, the pecs being pretty major. Don’t take it the wrong way, your work is really great.
BTW,
Have you seen this guys work?

Thanks guys.
I think the point here is that I wasn’t trying to create a new concept of Goro. I am just modeling it based on many different references.
Of course I am adding some of my personal taste to it, but I am trying to be true to the original character.

Yes, it could be interesting if I wanted to reinvent the body from scratch, but then it wouldn’t be the Goro that I was trying to make.
I just wanted to make him big and mean, but still the original one.
Mastershokan - Yes, that is basically claytubes ans smooth. Probably some default, inflate, clay, or rake here and there, but mostly claytubes and smooth.
Thanks!
Thank for the info. I can’t wait to see the next model.
Thanks for the link: caffeineandpixels
See? Those reference images would have been great at the beginning. I didn’t know that was an existing character. (I’m not a gamer.)
Hahahaha, no worries dude. He is a very well know game character, maybe because I am a character artist at a video game company I assumed everyone would know him, no needs for introduction I guess I was wrong.
Haven’t played a game since they cost a quarter, you had to go to an arcade, and they had names like Joust, Frogger, Centipede, Tempest, Donkey Kong…
Yeah, I know. I don’t have a cell phone either. People can’t believe it.
You are not alone in the self imposed ban on cell phone caffeineandpixels.
I enjoy being “out of touch”
Love the character. This incarnation is looking great!
Hey great forms there, nice
These generation of games was the most incredible of all, in my opinion. I’m a big fan and still playing these old classics even nowadays, through emulators. Altough I love currently art for games, I prefer to play the old ones
Pedro: You’re a true master, my friend, the only thing I don’t see in your goro is his breathing. A great addition for my references folder.
PS: How about some polypainting on him?
Thanks a lot guys!
Amauri - You are very kind, my friend Thank you very much!
Here is n update. Started to pose him.
Still need to fix some parts, and refine the skin.
Hope you like it.
