Just another quick ZBrush render of my old man WIP using Kris Costa’s clay shader and GI light setup. Thanks for sharing those Kris.

Absolutely beautiful! Well done. He looks like he’s seen a few things in his time

Very Nice Work. Could someone post the link to Kris Kostas clay shader please, I can`t seem to find it. Thanks. J

Awesome!!! I love this model! Very very natural. I’m glad you found the shader usefull. Keep it up :+1:

avatarsw,
I don’t remember where I posted it here at ZBrushCentral but you can download it from my website > Freebies session ( http://www.antropus.com )

TOP ROW FOR ME TOO!!!
Really lovely character, I love everything, my best wishes.
Arturo

Top Row, nice model but where can i find a preview of the zombie movie?

Fantastic details, I realy like how you can see the underlying structure (his scull) , those types of details realy give the skin a more elastic, and realistic feel.
A quick comment on the render, I think if you gave the eyes, a small spec hit, or some kind of reflection, you will add more contrast, and life.

Top notch stuff :+1:

Terrific job!

Nice work, reminds me of Kier Dullea in 2001, (at the end)

huh how??? (please i reallyy need to know.)

:+1: good work buddy !!!

can v c the base mesh u did in maya ?

thankz

Hello folks, this is my first post in this forum. Nice work you make here
I’m new in the world of 3d, and when i saw this post, i wonder i this guy to make this project used Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop and Mental Ray. Is this because ZBrush is only good for sculpting? That’s my doubt, if i want to archieve in a next future a final job like this one, will i need all these other programs?
I hope you clarify me about this subject.

Thanks to anyone and continue your great work

First like to say fantastic skill in your work well done, great detail.

To answer the question about why use so many different programs heres my thought on it.

Athough Zbrush can model, detail, texture and render it not the best at doing all of them. Zbrush real current strength is detailing and texturing.

Programs like Maya, 3ds may take longer to produce a basic model but the polygons are layed out so the edge flow produces clean meshes. Its about using the strengths of different applications to produce the best results combined.

Zbrush can produce good renders with skill but the likes of metal ray can produce better renders athough more complex to setup. Photoshop is a application that alot of people cant do without. It can get that finnal polish to your final render. Also Photoshop is nice to quickly add hair.

Simply excellent work! I love the model, but the first render really does it no justice, too much is hidden in the shadows!

For those that asked to see the wireframe…

The base mesh is 1716 polygons, entirely quads.

The final sculpt is sub divided to level 6 in ZBrush. I divided and sculpted on it one level at a time (ie. Making sure I was happy with it at sDiv 2 before dividing to sDiv 3).

Being able to change the basic forms after adding detail sure is handy but it’s not how I like to work. If I’m not happy with form then I shouldn’t be adding detail anyway.

javalabala,
Zombie Movie is an award winning live action short film available to download free through steam. Go check out the trailer at www.2chums.com and follow the links to download it. And that goes for anyone else who’s up for sh*ts and giggles…

ZPortugal,
Tez answered that question spot on. ZBrush is the shizzle (very good) when it comes to digital sculpting (both form and detail) but I use Maya to build base meshes because of the tools available and the speed with which I can create good edge loops.

If Maya (or Max/Lightwave/XSI) are unavailabe to you, I would suggest learning Wings 3D, an excellent (and FREE!) subdivision modeling application. Available here: www.wings3d.com

Export your models in OBJ format and import them into ZBrush.

The low res mesh is fascinating … thanks for showing us. It’s so wonderfully controlled and neat. It’s inspiring and informing both. :+1:
