Awesome works and compositions! I really like how you move and pose the characters in the space , they really feel alive !
I like the Hunchback of Notre-Dame and Ayla. I also like the proportions and portraits of your ladies . Keep it up man !

This is stunning stuff, I especially love that mortar team and those resident evil characters. awesome work

Hello everyone! Thank you very much Mindschnapps for your kind words and thank you OvidiusTiberius, your work is inspiring and I hope you’re doing alright; it’s been awhile since my last update of this humble sketchbook, so I think it’s time to sweep up the dust a little and keep things going. Been busy the last year with work but I had time to do some personal stuff also. I hope everyone got ok in the new year. So enough with the talking, let’s get things started. Here are some heads started from a sphere with the powerful dynamesh:

Head1.JPGHead2.JPGHead3.JPGHead4.JPGHead5.JPGHead6.JPGHead7.JPGHead8.JPGHead9.JPGHead10.JPG

One year back, I started using dynamesh and I thought, hey, why not doing models asymetricaly directly in a pose from a sphere especialy if you had some sort of a concept or image or even just thinking something. So I started using this on many of my models. Here are some of them:

Being a comic book fan I did some Marvel stuff; here’s a sketch of Beast inspired from the Marvel Encyclopedia:

Beast1.JPGBeast2.JPG

I want to start this post by first thanking my friend Ovidiu who helped me with the scene by setting the lights and everything cause I’m a noob when it comes to this; all of the stuff from my last post and the future ones was and will be rendered in modo with his scene. So here’s some other images using asymmetry.

My version of Cyclops:

A thinking gorilla if this is even possible:). Inspired from a picture on the net:

Gorila_screen2.jpg

Because I like J Scott Campbell very much I did some tribute sculpts from his Ferry tale Fantasies work:

Mermaid1.jpgSleeping_Beauty.jpg

Another Marvel, Nightcrawler:

Just a little piggy sketch:

There’s more, but I’ll put it in my next post. Stick around:)

A Marvel sketch of Storm:

A guy taking a bow:

Because I liked The Hobbit very much I wanted to do some fan art so I decided to go with Thorin:

Some anatomy stuff also sphere-asymmetry:

It’s kinda late here so I gotta go, but I’ll be updating soon. If you have any crits, suggestions please let me know. Good luck to you all!

wow, for me its top row stuff you got mad skills dude. Did you finish art shool or smt?

Wonderful sculpts -

I’m not familiar with your term “sphere-asymmetry” (I know zspheres and I know what asymmetry is, just not in the way you are using the term) what is this process?

thanks, look forward to your next creations

Hi, thank you very much Klicek, I’m glad you like my work. No, I didn’t finish art school, but I drew since I was a child and had a lot of practice, so you could say that I was busy with art:).
Thank you Nate Owens for your comment, keeps me motivated on improving. Ok, about my workflow; what I mean by sphere-asymmetry is that I always start with a sphere and with the pose first, without using symmetry. Then I add details like face expression muscles, fold, stuff like that, nothing fancy:). This couldn’t be easy without dynamesh. I will post a video on how I do it soon. Yes, before dynamesh came out, I did the T pose with zspheres for all my characters, then posed them. Now I just do it like this, starting from just a sphere and posed directly; that’s why I call it sphere-asymmetry. Hope that’s clear to you now:). Good luck on your work!

Thanks for the explanation…
I like the idea. Sometimes ZSpheres seem complicated, so the idea of working from a sphere is good.
As far as doing it asymmetrically, I agree, but I usually start out with symmetry until the basic head or figure is accomplished, then go asymmetrical for the details.
I find that it is a lot simpler working with ears, eyes and the main anatomy of a face or most critters as they seem to be bi-everything to do symmetrical first.
Then I turn off symmetry and use the modeling brushes or move brshes to work out the features and non-symmetrical details… ??

Hello everyone! Time for an update. I have some last year stuff that I wanted to post, but I haven’t had the time to arrange them and render. So I’ll show some of my recent stuff, instead. So here’s an update on Thorin, from The Hobbit:

Today I had some free time at work, and I started working on Balin, another dwarf from The Hobbit:

This was also done using sphere-asymmetry. Ok, like I said, I made a video in which I’ll show why I named it like this. Here goes(hope I’m doing this right, I’m not that familiar with posting on forums:), sorry for any mistake that I do):

Until, next time. Hope I’ll be updating this soon. Have a nice day/evening!

you captured them perfectly  i like your loose style, its from traditional art background i suppose  thanks a lot for the vid, its fun to watch, very inspiring.

These are excellent likenesses. I love the natural poses. It is great to see things sculpted/presented in something other than the traditional “bind pose”. How far do you plan to take these?

Hi guys, haven’t expected such quick replies:). Thank you very much for your kind words, keeps me motivated. My traditional background, well…I don’t have any:). I just drew since I was a kid and a lot of practice. About, how far am I going to go with these, it’s tough for me to go to that extra level, most of my stuff are just sketches; guess I’m a little impatient about my next idea. But I’ll try to go as far as I can, or handle:). Thanks again for watching, and all the best!

Nice work. Thanks for sharing (and the video ).
Cheers
Luca

Some really sweet sculpts man! Great gestures

nice sculps!

Great sculptures my friend . I hope you will finish them very soon . Thanks for the video . Cheers!

Hey nomad, you got great sculpts here. I Like how you achieve the likeness and pose.

Hello everyone!

@granvalenti - thank you, glad you enjoied.
@JohnnyRaptor - thank you
@polterizer - thanks
@ovidius - thank you my friend, your words mean a lot to me. Keep updating your thread and good luck!
@Toxicassclown - thank you and good luck with your anatomy studies, improving:)

Here’s a little update on Balin and a test render of another sculpt of mine. The renders were done by my friend, Ovidiu, in modo:

I’ll be updating soon, until then, good luck with your work and all the best!
