Night Elf WIP

very cool - i like all of the details and the overall pose. one thing i’m not sure about though, is his right hand heavy metal salute - it just looks a bit odd to me and out of place…

Glad u like, and thanks for C&Cs guys will use this to improve the sculpt / pose before texturing etc. LOL I guess you have a point with the ‘heavy metal salute’ arran  so I’ll change the pose for his hand I guess.

Thats really nice and i really like all the clothes how do you make those ???

My next step would be to define the stomach area, but nice work overall. Love the matcaps by the way.

Thanks guys and I’ll work on it (stomach area, hand, hood so far I guess).

As for cloth details Finito, it’s mainly with use of large radius lazy mouse with flatten brush (or inflat or both for definition going over strokes) i.e. for rims and stuff and then masking parts and using stich brush accurately with lazy mouse with wanted alpha etc for thos stitch effects and the such. Then it was masking and then using standard bush / smooth for those designs sticking out such as moon / raven / leaf embossing. For feathers I made one then duplicated and positioned then duplicated in groups and positioned with transpose (first in Silo tho) etc not so hard maybe just time consuming.

if i were you id make the eyebrows a ALOT bigger

Really really nice sculpt. i have one im working on that calls for feathers and you have just inspired me to go the route i wanted in the first place.

Keep the Devil Horns!! Elves are headbangers too.

nice job man , I felt the atraction of gravity drives to the botten then the upper part . done a good job for hands ( muddra ) its a turm of Indian Bharatanatyam dance . and I would like to see the full image.:+1:

Hi and thanks all. I updated the sculpt a bit and I added new angle as well and here is also a closeup but with unfortunate quality reduction for file size.

I can see there is a good amount of work in this character and the feathers are coming along great. i hope that you keep pushing this and work the detail into it where required. i hope i am not to bold in suggesting that the hands let it down a little, especially the hand holding the staff. It is possible you intend working them further anyway, but i think the holding hand would benefit from there being a slight bend in the finger tips of the upper most two fingers, and maybe you could consider pulling the bone structure through a little to give them strength.

Arran J Lewis

Why thank you Arran  I sure will follow your advise (especially that you’re knowledge of anatomy must be great with your 11 systems thread by now) and fix the hands hopefully before texturing, and I also intend to sculpt the feathers further too and fix armguard sculp a bit too.

As you can see I used your alj9 shader by the way, it really brings out details nicely (cavity etc) even tho the shaders meant to be for bones. Love your work by the way and thanks for the shaders and for the advice.

Here is a first draft of progress so far for textured version, still needs work I think and background is temporary:

Is still Wip but nearing completion. Hope you like it:

i would continue the green hue you have on his robe throughout his clothing in small amounts. Cause right now, its the only place it shows up and you might as well colour it gold with as much gold as you have every where else on his robe.

It looks beautiful. keep it up!

Very cool work. Love the style, reminds me of some gfx work I used to see in arcades.

Awesome work! :+1: I also love the style. It looks a bit like the WoW night elf wallpaper pic:D .

It’s coming Nice. Just change some skin effacts. I think here is only simple color on body??
Or add sss shader on the skin then see the effact;)
Nice work. Keep working :+1:

Hi I know this was a dead thread (sorry for raising again) but I remembered this character was in first draft and decided to revisit and enhance skin shading slightly, this is that update i.e. second draft. It’s not meant to be that realistic tho so skin tones were meant to be sorta basic anyhow, but anyways. No time for SSS tho by the way lol so I didnt do any of that, too much bother with the set up etc:

looks nice, but he still looks like he is in T-pose somewhat. He needs a more natural pose. Bring his right hand up and in front so it looks like he is cupping the energy ball. Right now it looks as if it is just hanging off the hand.

You kinda have a hard time with poses I’ve noticed. I’d work on posing a lot if I were you. It will bring the model to life more, and make it more believable. The goblin you did has a nice pose, though. The other 3 models need work though. You seem to be able to model and texture just fine, so pose, pose, pose.

I agree, you left him in the symmetrical pose, i think you should pse him alittle, but he looks awsome non the less. Only thing i would change is the skin tone.

Nice Drood !!
