New Works

SEP. 27, 2011
Starting to get a little bit of a feel for this new DynaMesh feature…Baby steps for me at the moment…
I like the way you can use the insert feature to create the blockin of the figure with the sphere …cylinder,…and cube…Burne Hogarth method of drawing/figure creation…Actually he stole it from Michelangelo…who stole it from the ancient Romans,… who stole it from the Greeks…Alot of thievery along the way…LOL…But it’s a proven system of figure creation, that still works today, just as well as it did when the Greeks invented it…
Anyway, …a little further along with this creation, experiment of mine.

Just experimenting while learning.

I can see the attraction in pursuing that process for figure posing and creation. Give the built-in mannequins a try - pose them, create your polymesh then go into dynamesh. Works wonderfully. I love posing and manipulating the mannequins.

Mentat 7…Thanks for the suggestion…I will for sure give those mannequins a workout somewhere along the line as I try to learn all this new stuff that I have at my disposal to play with now…One baby step at a time for this old man…I’ve lived long enough to know my limitations and expectations…all in good time.

WIP Sculpt…ZBRUSH 4R2…DynaMesh…Just slapping some clay onto this figure this morning, so I have something to refine and sculpt on…Using the clay buildup brush to rough in the forms and to get a sense of the interlacing volumes and flow in the muscles, while creating opposing curves and enhancing the rhythm factor.

it’s super cool to finally work in such a natural way.

these are great!!!

This dynamesh thing is especially for you SD.
You found your digital material by all means.

Maghitu…You for sure got that right…
Mealea…Thank You…
Michalis…Yep,…I think you are right, because it sure is alot more enjoyable sculpting now,…for me anyway…:)…It feels like the real deal, maybe even better in fact…No better for sure…No maybe about it…

WIP. Sculpt…ZBRUSH 4R2…DynaMesh
Worked/sculpted more on the primary forms …torso/pelvis this morning…using the clay buildup brush.

Putting a few links to a few sketchbooks that I like and admire from the Artistic Anatomy Forum over in CG Talk into my sketchbook here, so I don’t have to go back and search for them or the inspiration I get from them when I need some refreshing views on figure creation and anatomy…
I usually create figures from my own imagination,…but it’s always useful to have good refference on hand from others examples.

These links may also be useful to someone else in this forum, especially with the arrival of this new DynaMesh feature that ZBRUSH has just made available…So I thought I would post them in here, just in case they may be.
Will call this my personal anatomy and figure creation refference and inspirations post.

WIP…Some more work done on this piece this morning…Moved his right shoulder and arm using transpose and masking…claybuildup brush used to fill up the minor ajustment tears that accure between muscle groups while adjusting…mortar filling up the cracks…
Think I will use this guy to get different poses/actions, and then combine two actions to make a fight scene in the end…will give me a chance to try out alot of the new features that just came on the scene with this new version of ZBRUSH…And will also give me a chance to practice sculpting and anatomy as I go along perfecting each pose.
WIPS for this figure creation on preceeding page in here.

looks good! the new render is great, I have also only scraped the surface och the render and the amazing lightcap features. Looking forward to seeing more, your boxers are looking great.

Peace

i like those! and also the material used. your sculpts are like some real clay sculpting!
i’m happy with the simplicity of the render…i was a bit disturbed with precedent saturated, i’m sorry.
exelent use of cylinder in fact for harms and legs!!

OCT. 06, 2011

Crazy Horse…Thanks man…Yep that lightcap feature looks to be amazing…Tons of stuff to explore and have fun with…I think for my next experiment, i’m going to try to get the light to shine through an alpha pattern…saw it in one of the class room tutorials…lots of possibilities for that effect I think…Kind of like Renoir lighting…where the light and shadow are broken up,…like shining through lattice work…

Xada…Hey …THANKS…:)…That material is not mine,…I borrowed it …It’s …Fatmiri’s Rusted Grey Metal…can be found in the Matcap library…makes for a nice antique bronze look when you change the color of it to a reddish golden bronze color.

Just experimenting and learning at the moment, so there is going to be lots of trial and error going on IN HERE…Not looking to hit a home run with any of these experiments…YET Anyway…LOL.

Just another angle shot of these boxers…still need to change the pose on the one that’s throwing the punch…right hook…Need to change the legs on him, so he is stepping into the punch, well grounded and well ballanced giving the right hook punch alot more thrust and power…Will make a nice contrast to the other guy being totally off ballance and on his way down for the count.…Will get to it shortly.

WIP…Shifted the left leg forward and adjusted the foot so it carries the weight and ballance of the boxer that has just thrown the knockout punch.

A little logical failure. the guy falls before the other guy hits his face? the interaction seems wrong to me.

Also try to improve sculpting, the muscles come out better but the arms and other body parts look still clumsy.

Try to watch fighting movies to study fighting moves and poses!

Max Petterson…Don’t need to watch movies…I’ve been in the ring, and actually know what it feels like and looks like up close and personal. and if you read what I wrote, you would know what i’m doing…But thank you for your suggestions anyway. It is still a WIP.,and just something to use to get a feel for the new ZBRUSH features…will worry about the details you are concerned with in the end.
