I have a few Questions
1: What reference material did you use to do the life studies and could you post them and their source?
2: I find that if these works are indeed honest self made works then the life studies are quite interesting but the other stuff ie the oil thing is just really very poor and has been laboured over to the point where an independent observer can only suggest that is is a failure in every sense - that includes the very naive socio-political aspect. The actual graphics are just terrible. You need to re-evaluate your efforts and I suggest develop a less thin skin approach because the posts made by several other detractors are totally reasonable. ZBrush technics are also very poor.
3: I am sure any person visiting your thread comes in with a positive opinion but soon becomes suspicious and annoyed and this can not only be the fault of others. Some of the blame for the tone of this thread must fall on your shoulders and the over-posting of an image that is so bad (ie oil thing) is very curious to say the least.

Showing a wip is all very good but the question was “what reference material did you use and if it was a life drawing or not from an image etc and please post the reference material. If it was from an artist then please post the artists name etc”
Please finally clear up this confusion and settle the matter for all time. If you do not I will have to regard this work as a “study of another artist” which is a totally different thing than to present it as your own work.

In regards to your over-posting of this terrible oil thing - please give it a rest or at least develop it to an extent where one can take it seriously.

Rabbit77, probably he can’t answer because most likely Rebecca done them. You can’t say anything in CGTalk thread as well, your message gets deleted by Rebecca(an admin in cgtalk, instructor). She is highly protective of him. Maybe if not directly, she helped him in the process.
And none of the paintings / 2.5d stuff of his, technically, is not close to those 5-6 paintings of Rebecca or whoever made those. One more fact that he did not paint a single paintings like that in many years and none of his WIP/completed peaces remotely reached the level of technicallity of those paintings… it’s hard to believe, really.
If I had that skill, it’s not about 3d/2.5d/2d, with Zbrush+Painter, I’d most likely create more than 6 out of 1000.
I don’t really care how good he is, or the final image looks like. It’s also not because I don’t enjoy. Considering the facts, I’m more interested in why he thinks he owns those 6 paintings.
Oh and, here, where you observe and critique, “I” doesn’t matter, I’m simply random observer. Please keep that in mind and don’t tell me you need to see my work – as usual.

It would be very refreshing if the purely destructive people without any benefit in their posts other than to disrupt would stop posting in public and switch to PM. If you do not have anything good to say, then do not say anything. Smearing accusations around while hiding behind the anonymity off the web is not bringing any credibility to the hate mail floating around here like BP Gulf Oil.
Please, let’s cheer up, give valid feedback and be civilized. SD can take a good pull on his leg, but constantly setting him on fire and provoking him is only a sign of poor character. There are SD pieces I do not like, but there are SD pieces I do like a lot. Regardless of what I like or not, SD has my respect. In the end of the day, regardless how you look at the results, SD creates.
Can’t wait for the next controversial piece ;). Maybe something more cheerful, or brighter… Maybe a Rabbit77 with a rainbow sprouting out of his… lol… maybe not…

Lemo…THAK YOU…Very Much appreceated… 
I live right across the street from the beach, and have seen Boston Harbor go from the dirtiest and most polluted water system in the U.S. to the cleanest…Took about ten years, alot of money, and a new sewerage plant to get to that point, but it was well woth the time and effort put out by alot of people who want to leave behind something that is better for their children than what they themselves have inherited.
Now me and my wife and our new one year old grandchild can go swimming in clean water and enjoy a clean beach.
So you see ,…This latest of many oil disasters is not a distant abstract reality to me and mine…It’s as real as it gets, and even thought, I prefer fantasy when doing my art, I also cannot ignore reality in my art when that reality slappes me in the face…so to speak.
I will for sure do more pleasent pieces in the future,…but for now…first things first…
Only an ostrich sticks it’s head in the sand when trying to avoid what is happening…I’m no ostrich…I’m just an old dog trying to learn some new tricks is all…

That woman was origially painted by me in the Corel Painter program,…Just using her as a learning device in ZBRUSH at the moment…Making something new from something old.
It was bound to get to this point anyway so i decided to save you a few steps.

As for Lemmo - man if you can only read my previous statement you will see that I asked for clarification because I could smell a rat.
To illustrate my statement I have quickly made an image that superimposes the original photo he used over his so called end result.
If you know anything about art from life drawing or even from images then there are always deviations and these are a natural result and then when you see an image like this it smacks of tracing or even reverse engineering using some oil paint like filter etc.
I hope I am wrong but judge for yourselves.
This is exactly why I asked for the reference material.
I have had students who tried this trick and believe me they always get found out.
PS Everybody has the right to question anything and if you think that is “hate” then you are a total fool.

Remove your piece from my thread…It and you are most definitly not welcomed in my sketchbook or in this forum for that matter, and i’m sure that is a fact beyond your understanding, but that is your problem, don’t make it mine.
If you feel the need to make an ass out of youself in public, feel free to do so, but just do it in some other forum please…because you are really only distracting from the people that are serious about learning in this one, myself included…But I guess that is what your goal is in the first place, so i’m really not very surprized by your latest effort…just a little disapointed in your inability to control your child like behavior in public.
If you don’t remove your piece, I and the rest of the forum will understand, and accept the fact that mentally challenged adult children are incapible of change and just can’t control or help the way they act and are.
Maybe the forum moderator or administrator will not be as forgiving of you and your actions as myself…the forum and artistic community within it can only hope so.

the guy is trying and clearly improving as he continues to post. his art is bothering a large portion of people on this forum so it must be doing something right.
