New Works

NOV. 16, 2012

Thanks Deke :)…Will do

The difference between two evils, and THE CHOICE…The Aztec and their kind on one hand, and Cortez and the Inqusition and their kind on the other hand…Which of the two is the lesser of the two evils…There is no difference …evil is evil,…and can only produce more evil…Religious Fundamentalism…, and an Apocalyptic future with no future, except to repeat the wrong that has already been done…Old World…New World…Same World…One World…or No World…an Apocalyptic Choice

Hey Thanks Michalis :)…I think that if I can ever figure out all the ins and outs of LightCap and BPR …Then I won’t need any other app for what i’m after…Maybe…Hopefully…

Link to the idea of Mealea posted towards the bottom of the preceeding page within this sketchbook.

Hey Mealea…I don’t know how you created that panoramic scene with some of my works on display within it it, or how it works,… but I luv it, and luv the idea of it also.
Feel free to do whatever you want to do with my works and images, because as of now they are just sitting in my skeckbook collecting dust…and if that scene that you created with a few of my works within it was just a quick example of what can be done with them, well then, all I have to say, is… GO FOR IT…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
I’m really looking forward to seeing what and where this brainstorm of yours will lead to…The idea of it has a solid foundation to expand from and build upon, and obviously by your example, the technology is now available to realize your vision for your idea,…So as I said earlier…GO FOR IT…:):+1:
I wish that I could be of help at this point, but my understanding of this new technology is very limited at best, and i’m just a small link in a bigger and ever expanding chain of ideas for the useage of this new technology called digital art…It’s people with a vision and an acute sense of imagination such as you possess that will carry the day in the end,… of this hopefully… never ending journy of exploration,… that has become the digital… adventure of a lifetime…

Cheers Mealea, and thank you sharing, and for showing me a glimse of what will be…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

Thank You Deke :)…Still just experimenting here and trying to have some fun with my art and the creative process …and you are right about that jaguar…I’ve been putting off finishing him for too long now…only excuse,…I got side tracked by the creation of this new Pixols to 3D Plugin that Marus Civis came up with…So much fun to be had with it, and with the tons of new possibilities that it has created…

Thanks a million for the visits and support along the way guys…Always welcomed, and very much appreciated.

Glenn

I figured you needed an example, and It seems to have done the trick!
What you were looking at is a still from a virtual reality world called OpenSimulator which I have running on my computer.
Its a lot less complicated then it sounds.
Making things in it is very simple to a large extent, mainly editing the shape of basic primitives like you can in ZBrush but with simpler tools, and in a weird way (for primitives) more options. You can also import things from ZBrush, I have done a little of that but I need to learn about getting the textures in as well. That is a bunch of UV and normal map stuff that I cant seem to get right. Basically the same stuff game developers do.

Cheers!

Actually the next time you see it you should be able to walk around in it… walk is the W key on your keyboard.
If you can put up with my instructions and lack of reflective surface and opacity you might like this a lot.
Its fun.
And addictive…
And time consuming…

This is going in a unique direction Glenn. Keep going with it! I dont usually do this but if you want to see a test I made in the new Vue 11 go to http://www.runtimedna.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=29&pos=1 Bas wants me to take it further and i am looking at that. The models are old Poser models. Perfect for a test.:+1:

NOV. 20, 2012

Thanks Tartan :)…I never saw that site before…There are some really nice works in there…Thanks for turning me on to it…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
Listen to Bas,…he’s a great painter and illustrator…
I like your piece alot…Nice story, drama and composition…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)
I hope you don’t mind, if you do, just shout out, and I will take it out of my sketchbook…no problem.:)…I did a quick paintover of your piece.I thought it might give you some ideas if you decide to take your piece further…who knows.:)…I thought it worth posting in here, just in case it does.
Anyway,…Thanks for the visit Tartan, and it looks like you are on a good path, and makeing great progress with your art…That’s always a great pleasure for me to see happening, with any artist.

Cheers Tartan.:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

hehe I have no problem with that at all Glen :+1: What Bas suggests is making a cave for him and have him looking out. Darker on the left leading into brighter right and framed by the cave for a more dramatic presentation. I have done a version for it but I am not happy with the cave I made so I will go back to that once again and make one in Z. I am thinking of making another texture for the sea serpent for better contrast. Both serpent and octopus will need to be photoshopped for a wet look. That octopus looks so dry to me. Vue 11 Infinite is crashing constantly on me. I crashed at least 15 to 20 times yesterday and on simple things like saving a file. This after a render with over 4 million polys in it. The render saves to disk with multiple masks and channels automatically so I had no problems there. I was just doing a test and it turned into more than just that lol. I see where you are going with the paintover and it is also leading to a more dramatic presentation. I think i will play with that idea also

NOV. 21, 2012

Hey Tartan :)…I like the idea for your piece that Bas has…Octopus usually like those caves and like to hide out in them, so it might add more of a sense of realism to the piece that you are working on…Kind of tricky to make it work right …compositionally…but it can be done…

Hey Spirit,

Happy Thanksgiving! Man I ate too much yesterday. Yah I am trying for what Bas had in mind. Very tricky compositionally as you say. One reason is that Vue rains through the cave (unless I am missing a setting. I may have to dig deeper.) I can do it in photoshop with vue generated masks etc. I just havent had the time to sit back down with it. On your paint over I could see how you were framing things in though using atmosphere instead of rock which I think is a good way to go also and can be done with giving a series of spheres a cloud texture in a 3d layer of their own. At first look it is a simple image to do. Sometimes simple gets complicated in a hurry lol.

I like the colors in your latest venture and composition. Especially the offset of the jaguar tree into the frame. Zbrush is so much more powerful now than it was even a year ago :+1:

Thanks Tom :)…and Right back at you…Happy Thanks Giving Man. I ate too much also…had to sleep for a couple of days to recover from it all.

On your piece…Alot of quick little thumbnail sketches will help to get that composition just right…Maybe even crop or expand the canvas that you have as your painting now to fit the composition that you settle upon…Just a passing thought on my part that might be useful to you…who knows.
