Ali vs Forman…The Rumble in the Jungle…The Last Round

hi glenn, i have found also that the mannequins in zbrush are a great starting point for dynamic poses. its good to get the essential laid down in the beginning, and that is where the mannequins help. i really love your work on this last round, also portrait work is off to a very good start. keep it going  … watch for the bones, that they stay connected… i am looking forward to this particular piece

JULY 09, 2012

Thank You Kokoro  Yep, those mannequins are a great thing…I just wish that they had been around around earlier…would have saved me a whole lot of aggravation and time…oh well, at least they are here to use and enjoy now…:)…I’ll for sure watch out for the underlying bone structure as you have suggested…Thanks for that observation…much welcomed and appreciated :+1:
So far, it has all been done from imagination and memory. I have looked at a few videos, and still shots from the fight, just to get a feel for what happened in it, but haven’t copied from them,…per se…so there are a ton of errors to correct in my version of it… i’m sure…hopefully ill find them all and correct them all as I go along with it.

Smoothed out and polished up some the figure of George Forman this morning.

ALI-FORMAN-LAST-ROUND-55.jpgALI-FORMAN-LAST-ROUND-56.jpg

the first of your last post is my favourite, from how it reflects motion and mood. i tend to like the colors in the second one better, they fit more (to me) with the heat of the fight… but, as said, the first appeals more to me from composition, and everything else  great work, wonderful studies

Thank You Kokoro :)…I feel the same way about those two versions, and for the same reasons that you mentioned…decisions, decisions…It’s a draw :Dkeep them all is the only solution…

Thank You Deke…I like that one the best also, and mostly for the same reasons that you mentioned…I think that those subtle color changes do it for me in that version…it just ended up with a nice painterly feeling, which is what I was mostly after from the start of this project…
I’ll have to sleep on it as far as deciding which is the best to put into my CG Portfolio…Will be be the last boxing scene that I put in there…for awhile anyway…I got 30 decent boxing related scenes in the last two or three months…learned alot from each one done, and enjoyed alot the experiance of doing them…gave me a reason and chance to explore ZBRUSH further than I would have otherwise…but still tons and tons of stuff left to learn and explore …a never ending learning expedition and adventure…What more could one ask for…especally at my age…

Anyway, it’s really nice to have some positive and constructive feedback along the way from you two…and it’s always very much welcomed and appreciated…THANKS :+1:

Off on a new adventure this morning…Playing around with Ryan Kingslien’s skeleton tool that comes with ZBRUSH…as part of his female anatomy study tool…Thanks Ryan for the great set of tools to learn by and from…:+1:small_orange_diamond:)

Going for a more painterly look and feeling this morning with this piece.
The bottom one is inspired by the expressionistic style and expressive use of color to evoke emotion and action in the works of Leroy Neiman in his boxing paintings, and is my favorite of the bunch so far.

Really glad and honored to hear that you learned a little something new from that mannequin study that I have put together…Nice to know, and have acknowlaged that what I am doing is helping someone else in this forum to expand their creativity and imagination…and in an interesting and fun way…Thanks Mealea.:)…Luv what you did with that skeleton by the way.:+1:<v:shape style=“width: 10.5pt; height: 10.5pt; visibility: visible; mso-wrap-style: square;” id=“Picture_x0020_3” type="#_x0000_t75" alt=“http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/img/zbc_style/smilies/thumb_up.gif” o:spid="_x0000_i1025">:D<v:imagedata o:title=“thumb_up” src=“file:///C:\Users\Jessica\AppData\Local\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image004.gif”></v:imagedata></v:shape>
