New Book - ZBrush Digital Sculpting Human Anatomy

Hmmm, looks like it’s still not released yet on Amazon.ca yet it still has Dec 16, 2009 as released date and still says it should ship on 18 - 21st for me.

is the book covering anything on anatomy and sculpting with zbrush

There’s a preview and a list of contents on the publisher’s website - http://www.sybex.com/WileyCDA/SybexTitle/ZBrush-Digital-Sculpting-Human-Anatomy.productCd-0470450266,navId-290542,descCd-tableOfContents.html

Hi guys. I just received the book (with DVD included) and it’s awesome, very detailed. I recommend it. I was surprised I got it today, I had it pre-ordered from Amazon and I thought it was supposed to be released on Jan 7 and I got a message on Monday saying the book had shipped. :+1:

Sigh, it’s still not ready to ship for me on Amazon.ca. Certainly does sound like it’s worth the wait. Are there any chapters on posing the figure?

Anyone in the UK got this? I am interested.

I think in Europe the book`s not yet available. I ordered mine @ amazon.de.

hey Everyone!

Thanks for your interest and patience in waiting for the book. I hope you guys that have gotten it already are finding it useful. Thanks again for your interest and support!!

I put some sample videos, chapter, and images on the facebook page for the book here

Cheers and thanks again!

Loving the book so far Mr. Spencer. Tell us, would you be planning on a “sequel” of this book that shows us how to sculpt a Female superhero character?

Thanks TJX!!

Yeah, I actually am thinking of that as a followup. I had intended on doing a female figure in the book as well but there just wasn’t room. I think it easily could have made the book grow by 4 chapters : D

I don’t want to simply do a “turn the male figure into a female” chapter. There are so many subtle differences in the skull, bone mass, orientation of the masses as well as dimensions of the skeleton and fat distribution a simple chapter would not have been enough.

So to answer your question definitely I am thinking of it as a followup : )

I am thrilled you like the book so far. Thank you for your kind words and thanks for buying the book!!
Cheers!

Just noticed that amazon.uk has it in stock. Just ordered. it.

Thaks Gordon!!

Check this thread for a sample Chapter 1 : )

Cheers!

Hi Scott! Can’t wait to read your new book! Hey, is there some reason that most of the stores aren’t carrying it in-store. I want to look through it before purchasing but most all of the stores around me here in IL. are only taking orders to have it shipped. Just curious.

Thanks for all of the hard work!

Well Scott just posted a sample chapter and there’s some content preview in the Sybex website. I don’t see a lot of bookstores carry ZBrush related books anyway, at least in North America. You’re better off ordering from AMAZON.

Hmm Im not sure why they wouldn’t. I know Borders and Barnes and Noble stock based on region. For example the 3D section was huge in the LA stores compared to ones in Atlanta.

Check out the sample chapter. I will also try to post the introduction video from the DVD in the other thread as well.

Cheers!
Scott

Yeah, the Chicago stores usually have a huge 3D section too. Even some of the suburban stores have large 3D selections. I had no problem finding your first book, so that’s why I was a little confused. Oh well, no biggie. I’m 99% sure I’m going to buy it regardless, so I’ll just order it.

I got the first book at Barnes & Noble here in Louisville, KY, but they don’t have the new one, nor does Borders. I’m about to order it from Amazon now, though. Very excited to study this, as your last book was extremely helpful. I’m finishing a boxing sculpt and could use the anatomy lessons.

Mr Scott Spencer, thank you  I received my book yesterday evening from Amazon (I’m impressed by them btw, I ordered in France and since they forwarded my order to amazon.uk to be able to serve me in time). Anyway, as soon as I got the book I couldn’t resist and started to go through it, one word, wonderful. The way it’s done it will be not only possible to follow and make the whole figure but also to take a particular chapter afterward and use it to practice a “problem area” separately. It seems to be possible to pick up the anatomy on the way too which will be very useful for a person like me, without real artistic training. One more ting I was worried but seems to be a non issue, I’m really a beginner in zbrush (I bought it for Christmas in fact), I only have "introduction to zbrush 3 and the second volume of eat3D zbrush behind me (both excellent) but even so, it seems I will have no issue to follow your book, which make me even more happy
As another person mentioned, I really, really hope you will have the time and opportunity to make the female anatomy equivalent to this book. I already know, that even if in the meantime I wil, have learned a lot (at least I hope, it takes a lot of time to write a book), I already know I will buy it because I’m sure there will be things for me to learn in it (axtually, I just ordered your character creation one).
Sorry for my bad English, and again, thank you for taking the time to write this book

Jean-Luc

Got my copy this morning. looking forward to looking at it tonight.

Scott this is brilliant, literally one of the best anatomy books I’ve read  Thanks for sharing with the community, looking forward to going through all of it!
