Okay. Basically I just want to get an idea of what’s too low or too high for a first paying freelance project.
Hi.
What you earn is directly related to what you produce. If you are ‘good’ you command a ‘good’ price. This is true whether you are a ‘Studio’ artist or free-lance. Beyond knowing whether or not your skills are competitive (and you must be truly honest about this with yourself) you must charge either by ‘piece’ or by ‘project’. This means charging a client for individual pictures based on ‘changes’ or charging a base price for the ‘file’ that included all changes. As you can see, the potential is wide open. ‘Free Market Art’ is all about ‘Negotiation’. Dollar amounts are variable according to market: West Coast, East Coast, International, Regional, Local, etc. These variables change annually and oftener. Put a wet finger to the wind. Good luck.
What are you worth? Be certain and be forceful.

Its a first job, and a small one.
I reckon this is just something you want for your CV, and perhaps to introduce yourself to a company that might employ you again. People talking about you living of this… well, its crazy talk. If we survived of one day jobs I think we would go nuts.
Set a fair hourly rate (I dont know what is in the US… which is where Im assuming youre from) $25-$40 spend 3-4 hours on it, and then when they employ you again you have your basis.
Once again, I really have no idea what a beginners rate is anywhere else, my point is, as others have mentioned, its your time that counts.
Is it possilbe that while you are asking he is hiring someone
else?
