For most of your models are you creating the basic form in another app then throwing it in Zbrush?
My issue comes into play with the hands and getting the form correct with zspheres, but your model’s hands look amazing!
AA-ron: Hey man thanks!..Wow, been a while since I checked in here.
Usually I start in Max and move the base to ZBrush. However, this next 'lil guy was started from Zspheres…
I am doing this piece as a portrait of my girlfriends, sisters new baby (Whew!..well, 6 mo. new anyway) as a Christmas present for her and her family. I started modeling today with Zsheres and this is the result so far. I must say it is fun dong something different for a change.
Lots to clean up and finalize still…
Any comments welcome!

Little update.
The feet are terrible but I dont think they will be visible in the final comp so, Im not too worried about them. Plus, he will be clothed I think? I am running out of time to get this piece done…I have to finalize modeling and pose in the next day or two but,
I would love it if some of you ZBrushers with kids could maybe throw me some crits on his proportions and anatomy if you get a chance:D .
Anyway thanks for looking.
Cheers.

Id have to say its all turning out very nicely. Do you have a final, or almost final comp for posting?
Well, as a matter of fact I do! I was just about to post it…
The pose is not quite final and I am going to rework the fur on the dog (and also its pose) but this should give a good idea of the final comp…and i will be texturing him for the final as well. I may also go for a retopo to help even out the poly distribution and also to get rid of the unwanted dimples near his nose.
Thanks for the interest AA-ron! After showing this to the recipient, they like the 3/4 view best so I may go with a variation of that. Also, here are a few different shaders just for fun.

it seems like the torso is a bit too long?
DAnconia, well perhaps… But after looking at my reference material again, his torso is a full 2 heads high, if not a bit more. I did a good bit of research on child anatomy because it was proving to be quite a challenge for me. The biggest observation I made on this is that very young children have quite a disproportionally long torso when compared to their appendages. And as they grow towards adolecence, these odd, early proportions become more and more like the adult standard we all know and love. Now, with that said, there are exceptions to every rule and this little fellow does have an even longer than normal torso. When i get home from work today I will post some of my ref pics to show this in action.
But don’t get me wrong, I greatly appreciate your comments as they cause me to re evaluate my work and perhaps help others facing similar challenges.
Keep em coming!
Great work rynomyte. The face and head has a good form. Will you be sending this in for prints? Anxious to see the finalized piece!
This looks great! I was wondering where this was going. Keep up the good work!
Well, been a while since I posted anything…Heres a Vampire Hunter D bust I started a few nights ago…Hes not posed yet and still a little bit 'o sculpting to do yet but I thought I would post the progess so far and go fishin for crits!
Soon I am going to open a new thread with all of my completed models from this thread, probably starting with this guy…yes, yes, I actually am planning on completing all of the sculpts in this thread…so much modeling, so little time! Thanks! Have at em!
Very nice work Ryan!
Impressive D!
This makes me wonder though- will you be modelling Left Hand?
piz: thank you buddy!
SpookeeP: Aw shucks! You ruined the surprise! But of course Left Hand will be making an appearance!
Im wondering and im sure alot of people are also, what kind of alpahs are you using for the details on that alien? Your sculpting them on HD of course?
Rubent100- the few alphas I’ve used so far are from Woodys nuts-n-screws alphas and zbrush’s default alphas. The rest is just sculpted normaly with the help of some masking and the 'ol lazy mouse.
And no HD…just 6 or 7 subDs and lots of subtools. Thanks!
Started working on Left Hand…added a slight temp pose to the hand as well.
C&C welcome.
Thanks!

Looks accurate to me, and the folds and wrinkles look quite accurate.
Not_Important: thanks!
Twitchmonkey: yeah, I was trying to stick to the Bloodlust version. Thanks for the input!
A little update…
