Nice speed sculpts. I like your technique of adding a squashed sphere for the eyelids and gutting out the center, there is an older technique with box modeling that is similar which you would use two hemispheres and place it into the head rotate the top half up and the bottom half down for the eyelids and you would animate those to open and close the eyelids. Mostly used on cartoon type characters.
